It's crazy that SGA was able to beat him so easily last summer with a way less talented roster, and then continued that into being so much better all year

It's beyond adorable watching Americans get excited about a guy maybe being really good

There'll never be another Jordan but that's OK. It'll never be the 80s again. It's two totally different times.

Teams are stacked with talent now! In the 80s you had 1 star and a sidekick. The rest of the players often looked doo doo. Or rather they were more specialized. You didn't have bigs that could bring the ball up court and shoot a 3 at any time.

The situation Jordan fell into may never happen again. Great as Jordan was, he had to fall in the right situation and right coach too.

Jordan wasn't in the 3 era like that.

Even teammates like Paxson, BJ, etc who were considered "good/great" long range shooters of their time, don't really compare to players now in the 3 ball era. I might eve say Kerr as well.
:why: He has the all-time highest 3 point shooting percentage.

Jordan was a career 32% 3-point shooter, and this includes the shortened 3-point line season which skews the stats a little. If you remove that season, it's closer to 28%, which is worse than Russell Westbrook believe it or not.

MJ simply was not a good 3-point shooter.

Top 5 in scoring all time, highest ppg for career & playoffs. Highest points in a playoff game ,highest ppg in the finals & couldn’t shoot 3’s :wow:

No one will ever conquer MJ. You have to do what he did on some level and win at least 6 NBA titles without ever taking a loss on that stage. That's not happening.

Even if it could, pro-Jordan people can't fathom the idea of someone being better than Jordan. At least, not enough to have a legitimate debate about it.

It's not just about being better it's matching the accomplishments.

10 scoring titles
9x 1st team all defense while leading the league in scoring
Only player ever with a DPOY while leading the league in scoring and winning MVP
Undefeated in The Finals
3peat, retire, come back, 3peat again

It's damn near impossible to pull that off half of that list let alone surpass it.

Exactly. MJ's career is unprecedented. It just is what it is.

Anyone could sit here and claim that MJ isn't the GOAT, but Jordan's argument for GOAT of his sport is probably the most bulletproof such argument in existence.
No one would have to match Jordan's accomplishments. This arbitrary "gotta win 6" or match Mike's accomplishments thing is going out the window and anyone who really enjoys ball should be in favor of that...

Because Mike didn't play under a premise that he needed to match Russell's accomplishments. Furthermore, I've been saying for the years that the NBA is evolved to a point that no one can have Mike's career again----->Mike was the right guy at the right time but that NBA he played in is archaic compared to today...

Same way that the NBA is too evolved for anyone to have Russell's career again...

Ant's, or anyone else's, claim to becoming the GOAT, is NOT dependent on their career being able to match Mike's; Mike's wasn't dependent on matching Russell's...

I want to believe you.

But the people you'd have to convince on the matter wouldn't see it that way.

Regardless, something that's never been seen before has to happen.

Why do you need to not take a loss in the Finals to be better than Jordan? It's better to lose in the Finals than it is to lose earlier.
