It's very easy to tell who DOESN'T listen to Rakim's music because these are the only people who seriously think that Ra ONLY raps about rapping.

I think people just listen to paid in full and didn't dig deeper. His lyrics, subject matter, and flow all evolved and got better with time.

Rakim is the standard by which all other MCs are judged. He elevated the art form in a way nobody can truly match.
Nas isn't in contention because he lost his way. He made the greatest rap album of all time, and then proceeded to drop the ball in grand fashion.

@ the old heads in this threads.Nas came thru and crashed the buildings in '91 and in 2012 his album is top 10 on every Most Anticipated list. nikkas cant even name Rakim last albums but have the nerve to put him over the true GAWD.
I give props to Rakim for coming thru and revolutionizing the art of mc'in, but this aint even close. Thread should have been made around the time I Am...came out.
Same can be said for KRS or whoever you ol heads wanna give props to just cause they were the "pioneers"
