Nas is the sequel to Rakim just like Biggie/Jay Z were sequels to Big Daddy Kane

jay is the inferior skilled extension of:

jaz
sauce
geuchi seude
big l

to biter of:

big
pac
nas
young chris : possible ????
em
lupe : possible ???

jay was never on kane's level even if he did hypeman for him.
kane is still a technical marvel jay can not replicate. unless in the company of doper emcees. which is why jay is not as dope as he once was and never will be

big was the mca extension of chubb on the one and heav with lesser skilled delivery, styles and mic presence wise. coupled with more violent content to compensate for lacking heav and chubb's overall skill vocally.

nas is an original,...originally.

just over the course of time and the change of the bpm's and sonic landscapes.

i feel nas had to become more skilled as a technical marvel.

which is why over time he leaned more on his contemporaries.

as his contemporaries also leaned on him in an even fair exchange of give and take

as he says on god son's,...realest nikka alive which closed out the jay battle.

after that he has lost or never gained an ability to be convincing and lacks over the numerous sonic landscapes. he himself opened up the floodgates for to occur on iww. so in essence he opened up the ability to be scrutinized by selling out. which exposed him and his inability skillwise. by making it so rap went in a sonic deviation from the true essence. so he hurt himself more by selling out. when he did not rock truely real.

how you owe me,...compared to any girl record on just seventh seal for starters...before we get to records like mahogany or know what's on ya mind.

Hahah, you know you're losing when you try to make a point that Rakim is better at making songs for the females than Nas. Cmon, at this point you're just trolling.

nas is not on ra's level at all.

ra being requested by jody whatley to create the first credible rnb, with a dope emcee rap feature.

already eclipsed nas,...and illustrated skillwise vocally and convincability wise what nas can not and never will be able to do.

you are trolling and don't know what the fukk you are talembout sir....

it is a reason nas is not credited with the same skills as ra.

he is inferior to rakim's entire skillset wholeheartedly.

i know this as a fact and i know this from debates.

with powers greater than you in emcee'n and rap journalism.

since i was in my teens.

Rakim being featured on an r&b track makes him a better rapper than Nas? I'm assuming you lost all those debates you had.

I wouldn't say updated, cause you can't update from Rakim. He is easily at the top of the pyramid.

I find it hard to chose, I think Rakim wins with the rhymes but Nas flow is slightly better. Nas also has had more success in the mainstream if that matters.

Ra got the greatest flow EVER. Nas can't flow on any tempo like Ra can and sound like It's Nothing!!

This is a hard one... I feel that from a technical standpoint, Rakim is a better MC. He started doing something, that was revolutionary at that time.
Suddenly every other spitter sounded bland in comparison.

But.
No one's perfect, there were aspects where he was clearly
lacking.
And this is where Nas came into the picture, he took Rakim's style, added his own elements, and made it into something unique. Wouldn't say better, but ... I feel he is a more "complete" MC.

Nas.

Rakim is the closest to a Perfect EMCEE.

This the best technical song by an EMCEE EVER!!

Nas is not better than Rakim and Rakim is not better than Nas.

Remember, even Nas said it himself:

"Pac, Nas and Big
Ain't no best"

I prefer Rakim over Nas and think he's a slightly better MC (which is just my opinion), but realistically speaking, I don't think either of the 2 are on a level where they can really ever be compared. If either of the 2 died today, they would both go down as GOATs in rap's history.

I like Rakim and Nas for different reasons but prefer Rakim as a rapper over all.
I could not have said it better myself. 2 Legends!!

Couldn't have said better. 2 legends and 2 of my Top 5 fav EMCEEs!!

Pretty much. I feel like anybody sayin Rakim is better is either a old head or one of them nikkas that try to seem more into "real hip hop".

Us old heads heard Rakim and Nas BOTH in Real Time while new booty cats like didn't...so keep it moving and don't question the Gods!!

not really, rakim lines his rhymes up with the snares. nas rhymes where ever he feels like it. rakim's rhyme style is very textbook(which it should be, because he wrote that textbook) where nas is unorthodox, and a lot of his multies don't get noticed because he doesn't put emphasis on them.

Ra created the unorthodox style...he became more textbook when he went solo. I swear you niccas who started listening to Hip Hop in 90s are clueless when it comes to the 2nd wave of EMCEES in the 80s. Same could be said for my peers who came up on the 2nd Wave while ignoring the 1st Wave of the Late70s/early 80s EMCEEs.
