no excuse.

Math is an issue of repetition. You have to do it over and over and over until you "get it". Like learning a language.

Most of the math tutors on campus are available to help especially as an undergraduate living on campus.

I remember I was passing Analytics with a D-C level...... starting going to a course specific study group two times a week post midterms and ended up with a B.

You have to sacrifice time when it comes to math.

It's too many resources on campus for students to be failing out here. If you don't understand the work, go to tutoring as that's what it's there for. A lot of students probably couldn't even tell you where the tutoring places are on their college campus.
There’s no excuse IMO

UC Santa Barbara has the goat location in my opinion, Isla vista and being legit steps away from sand. Close enough to LA but far enough away. You’re basically in a bubble.

Well, and the campus being located right next to, and I mean right next to the ocean. Driving up seeing folks in bikinis carrying surfboards and backpacks is yea, highly addictive lifestyle.

Plus Black Tide some good cats too, obviously the Isla Vista party scene is massive if you fit into that age group (I did/do not).

Irvine is slept on too. Close to LA, close to beach, bubble school. Irvine is a bit suburban hellscapish though so I get not wanting to be there.

Let's just say I originally wanted to be a chemical engineer......

After the entrance exams at PSU, I switched to structural engineering......

...... the I switched to nursing :francis:

I went to a decent public HS and got As Bs in chemistry and physics... and I was still shook.
I started out in chemical engineering as well. After taking organic :hubie:

Switched to mechanical and left that stuff behind

I can’t fukk with Orange County/Newport area. I’ve heard good things about Irvine though.

Not surprised about the Computer Science students failing. CS is full of a bunch of foreign teachers who can barely speak English and who have clearly no business in education , but are just there to complete their research.

I still have flashbacks from my Algorithms class , mf was the chair of the Department and you couldn’t understand a damn word he was saying. But always had the nerve to be smiling after every sentence and shyt :troll:

This is a weird headline.

A few have pointed out that the average high-school student often is not prepared for the rigor...

I know I wasn't. Had no clue how to approach complex and conceptual subject matter, no idea how to study properly, how to clarify my thoughts, how to form and express a meaningful opinion. Worst of all, I was told, "you're smart" over and over by people which meant that I believed I was ready and relied on brute force methods to get through classes.

I often failed, became frustrated with myself, and just ended up annoyed and wanting to give up.

Had no one in my corner helping me on any of it (but I also didn't have anyone discouraging me, just...no one cared or knew how to set me up properly).

Again, being called "smart" actually screwed me up because I refused to seek help, refused to believe I needed it. So you know, you just keep plugging along the hard way.

So, what's the solution?

Education failing
Point is students are just lazy and dumb. If they took the effort from clout chasing, using vapes, and playing on their iPhones, then passing basic 101 courses wouldn't be a problem..

I was a motivated student and never had this problem...

Now I'm thriving in the midst of a pandemic stacking bread and living life due my hard work.....

Zillenials are sad...
School was a breeze. Imagine struggling nos you can access information resources or whatever at a click even tutors.

Convenience is creating the WOAT humans. Not the best.

A lot of those classes are frowned up on by The Coli who complain saying that they aren't needed out here in life. It's the same people out here complaining about data and concepts without trying to understand where the information actually came from.

Case in point: Coli brehs who complain about data and analytics in sports without trying to understand the context behind it.
