No. It was fair game.

Nas has a history of trying to be this hood sage while wavering between consciousness. Its low-key insulting.

Its the same dudes who buy into all these bullshyt conspiracies but don't understand anything beyond that.

Don't get it twisted...a lot of rappers are fukking idiots. They can make catchy shyt, but they're not the brightest dudes. They always catch hell when they open their mouths outside of a recording booth.

Thats the same reason J Cole has fans. His music is wack but people buy into his whole "college educated" BS and think that listening to him makes them by proxy "more esteemed and refined" listeners.

Conscious rap music, most of which sucks by most fairly objective standards (if we can ever approach such a thing), is favored by people who will trade in music quality for music message in order to secure favor from their peers as being a moral authority.

The white community does not do this, by the way. Death metal fans can also be school teachers and community leaders and scholars.

The fukked-up state of the black community means that all of our media has to be completely upstanding in the eyes of the mainstream to get any acclaim from gate holding critics.
You seem insecure about your own intellect.

nikkas are acting like he didn't say this on his old album

I woke up this morning and figured I'd call you
In case I'm not here tomorrow,
I'm hoping that I can borrow
A peace of mind, I'm behind on what's really important
My mind is really distorted, I find nothing but trouble in my life

I'm fortunate you believe in a dream
This orphanage we call a ghetto is quite a routine
And last night was just another distraction or a reaction
Of what we consider madness,
I know exactly what happened
You ran outside when you heard my brother cry for help
Held him like a newborn baby and made him feel
Like everything was alright and a fight he tried to put up
But the type of bullet that stuck had went against his will
As blood spilled on your hands,
my plans rather vindictive
Everybody's a victim in my eyes
When I ride, it's a murderous rhythm and outside became pitch black
A demon glued to my back whispering, "Get 'em"

I got 'em, and I ain't give a fukk
That same mentality that told my brother not to duck

In actuality, it's a trip how we trip off of colors
I wonder if I'll ever discover a passion like you and recover
The life that I knew as a young'n
in pajamas and dun-ta-duns
When thunder comes it rains cats and dogs
Dumb nikkas like me never prosper
Prognosis of a problem child, I'm proud and well devoted
This piru shyt been in me forever
So forever I'mma push it, wherever, whenever

And I love you 'cause you love my brother like you did
Just promise me you'll tell this story when you make it big

And if I die before your album drop, I hope (gunshots)

He obviously understands the cycle of violence and thinks lowly of it.(refers to it as madness on GKMC, wickedness on DAMN) That sentiment has been consistent before and after the interview. You're whole point is riding on acting like knowing the sentiment behind violence and condemning it are mutually exclusive . Kendrick aint fake deep because you wanna deny him of his own opinion on violence in favor of your own. You have no idea how petty you sound right now.

Ol "Pac wasn't a legend because he likes cocoa pebbles and I like fruity pebbles" ass nikka

Lol all that to avoid how asinine his answer was  how exactly is "picking up a book" an alternative to picking up the pistol when you're in one of those situations? That may have been one of Kendrick's choices because his father gave him a positive example to follow as opposed to the dysfunctional examples of some of his friends. His friends may not have been so lucky with the selection of choices they were given. Some of them are pressured and forced to make terrible choices by their own family, let alone peer pressure. It's not Kendrick's job to take every set of circumstances that ever existed into account while giving an answer and that's never what I suggested. I simply did not find it genuine when he all but said that nikkas in his community grow up being raised to be predisposed to violence while not commenting on the fact that the kids doing the most and pulsing with the most negativity often deal with extreme circumstances at home that he himself was fortunate enough not to deal with. Kendrick didn't grow up to kill anybody despite growing up as a poor black man in Compton and his upbringing played a big role in that.

eh, song was more celebratory.

Hell, you could argue Jeezy's "The Recession" isn't fake deep...dude is talking about real people in real situations at a real moment in history.

None of it is contrived or attempts to score cheap points. He isn't taking the edge off his music for white audiences. He's talking to his people and his surroundings.

...oh, and it sounds good.

If it sounds good, you can escape most of the "fake deep" criticism
Give examples of songs about fake people in fake situations at a fake moment in history.

And if it's not fake Deep if it sounds good, then fake Deep is a made up criticism that doesn't really exist.
