the same GM and Ford that had a whole era of making piece of shyt cars that allowed Honda, Toyota and a host of other foreigns to take over the US market from the 80's-00's? yes, they've improved, but Tesla's claim to fame is how well their cars are made + tech + performance. Tesla knows how to make cars, their issue is capacity constraints

GM and Ford can’t hold a candle Tesla when it comes to EVs... GM and Ford only doing the EV thing because of the pressure from Tesla putting on their necks

Tesla people always give me a good chuckle

Most people don’t buy new cars.
1/3 of annual car sales are new cars. news car sales average $36k and 7 yr loans, used car sales average $21k and the average loan length is 5yrs, people are overextending themselves to pay for shyt they can't afford either way. you don't need a 15-20k car, you need the right mix of cars and people will make it happen regardless of price.

Once you get charging stations everywhere it’s a wrap. Also if there was a quick way to swap batteries that would be a game changer. Would be dope if instead of getting gas at a station you get a battery swap. This is why I wish there was some standardization to this process. Gas is simple because it’s standardized. Every station you go to pretty much has the same options.
There's some Chinese car that has quick swap batteries.

The thing that worries me about EVs is intellectual property law. Customizing beyond aesthetics and third party maintenance will be difficult if not impossible. Aftermarket car parts are a huge industry, as is tuning. Car companies are already trying to move away from the open OBD system to proprietary diagnostic protocols.

Need to have better infrastructure and unified charging. Also, there should be a middle ground here like forcing hybrids before full EVs can be trotted.

As it stands right now most ranges are low, charging is scant and the time it takes is pretty high. That kills most city dwellers and dense areas will suffer. Li-Ions need to get replaced or super enhanced somehow.

Maybe hydrogen can take off in the meantime.
