Nah, objectively its the best game of the year.

Art direction is incredible.
Writing is godly some of the best since Disco Elysium.
Best soundtrack by far of the year
Game play is innovative and deep enough to have wildly different experiences.
Characters are memorable and have depth.
Story goes from really good to amazing by the end of the game
It's take some of the best elements of the JRPG genre and perfected them
I had a clear vision and didn't let it get diluted by big studio politics

Like its the kind of game that people say games should be. IMO Dispatch is the only thing close and thats only because of it's absurd production value and writing.
I feel you but I’m not done yet, obviously my post got a few people triggered.

It’s like I said the game was wack or something :mjlol:

People who actually played the full game and doing that is wild. The biggest thing for Exp 33 is the narrative in experiencing it as you play it. It's goty imo but how you experience it is where the game really shines. Actually, this might be the one game where if you actually got spoiled, it would kill your exerpience on your first playthrough, imo.

I mean, I wouldn't say it is something that's innovative, but it takes some of the best elements in older JRPGs and executes them well. In fact, streamlining the gameplay mechanics is one of the things I liked about it. Too many JRPGs suffer from terrible item management, and the picto systems, as you said, add many ways to do builds. Though it does it in a simple manner at the same time. I do agree with the rest of your points, tho as it's easily my GOTY and easily the best JRPG since NieR Automata. If just pointing out turn-based games, then the best since Chrono Trigger.

The parry system is a nice addition, especially in Act I. But I started breaking the game easily in the middle of Act II and the rest of the mandatory content, where I never needed to worry about parrying on Expert difficulty since shield builds are busted on all enemies besides Simon and that one flying boss in Act III. Plus, Verso's min-health build easily reaches the damage cap in Act II.

Probably my only real criticism is that in the game design in Act III. It opens up the world for you to explore and essentially makes you keen to explore it, which I had a blast doing. The problem ends up being it makes the final boss a cakewalk, which bothered me when I kept one-shotting it after doing everything except beating Simon. It would have been better if the world opened after beating the final boss as post-game or if some of the ACT III content was made mandatory. Like the Clea and Alicia stuff, for example.

3 of the best 5 boss battles and lore hits are all in act 3.
I don't see it although I just started, when shyt hits the fan and we got "home ". The game has gotten easier because of the pictos and that lumos passive bs. I'm still shyt at this game but these perks are carrying me. I may go back to explore the world....i barely know what's going on and only started paying attention during the reveal in the epilogue. Feels like it came out of nowhere. Waiting to the "epilogue" to pull that twist seems like bad story telling but I like those types of stories.

Verso went from being my worst character, consistently getting two shot, doing zero damage and just being a buff bot to being my only character who can survive novel encounters I haven't memorized the attack patterns of. That big ape nikka leveled up too, he in killable puts up big damage simply by outlasting enemies....in the beginning m, i couldn't use his skills at all because i could never get those 4+ points needed to use the stronger ones. The black pawg is straight up broke, face role status, with the right weapon and passive...i only use her on everyone else is dead.

Everyone else the other two fell off. Mar is only useful for shield busting but Verso + the ape borderline ignore shields.

Verso is a beast if you gear him properly. Arguably top 3 in the game in terms of damage output. Maelle is obviously #1.

Are you playing on Expert? Act 3 is a cakewalk regardless, as long as you have the right weapons and Pictos, but the difficulty difference between Normal and Expert is pretty drastic.

The twist is heavily telegraphed starting in Act 1, you probably just weren't paying attention.

I'm not saying every piece of dialogue is important but a gang of sh*t that seems inconsequential in Act 1 and 2 is directly hinting at the twist. The Manor in particular heavily implies that it's a world within a world, especially if you found the Manor entrance in Frozen Hearts in Act 2.

Christmas vibes :banderas:

Ironically enough after flying waters, the next track they hit me with was ancient gestral city.

Which is my second favorite track in the game.

The end of this song legit be having the windows rattling which is amazing all things considered :russ:

Oh yeah the game being spoiled is probably like going into a movie like tenet or interstellar being spoiled.

But overall they do a really good job of layering spoilers where if you get spoiled on one thing, enough serious events happen that you should be able to enjoy the game and story still. I think that's one thing it does super well story wise that other games and movies don't do anymore.

Yeah getting spoiled on "xyz" but it doesn't take away from the events "abcd" and "efgh" it seems like with most games and movies now you get spoiled on a big plot point and that's a wrap.

What’s their to tell breh?:jbhmm:

I like what I like and I said it’s really good but oh yeah that’s right since I don’t agree with you or everyone else there must be something wrong with me….:skip:
Its a great game, easily game of the year, but I dont know if id call it the game of the generation like everyone else just yet.

To me it captures that feeling of psx/ps2 era of jrpg games that japan has mostly abandoned. My only issue with it is that act 3 feels super rushed, like there's enough content there for another 15+ hours of content but most of it is left optional while the game pushes you towards the end. And alot of that side content is really important to the overall story,

Everyone can be busted if you gear them right. Only exception is probably Luna, who can become your de facto trash woman because she has so many attacks that hit multiple enemies.

But literally EVERYONE is good because they are as busted as you want to make them. Just gotta take some time farming Lumina.
