It isI don't agree with what Verso did but I also can't judge him.
Not only did he not ask to be created, he was trapped against his will for decades. Effectively immortal, so unless something drastically changed (like the events in this game) he'd be forced to live a life he never wanted, forever.
I do think Maelle should've been a lot more angry with the truth answer he gave about Gustave, though.
As far as Maelle, regardless of how you feel about Verso....his ending is objectively the right choice. If the canvas continues to exist, there's nothing to indicate Maelle would have the willpower to leave on her own. Yes Lumiere and all the characters are awesome....but they don't really exist. Alicia's life in the "real world" sucks and her family is dysfunctional as hell but the only way they can begin to heal is outside of the canvas.
They don't spell out which ending is best but the Maelle ending is dark as f*ck and clearly not leading into anything good.
Fred.

Thinking about picking this up on PS5...worth it?
Been looking to get into another RPG since Metaphor.

Sided with Verso, Maelle is def getting addicted to being in the canvas and moreover she needs to get past Verso's death
When Verso hugged Esquie and Monaco
and Lune staring daggers into Verso before she got vaporised...the everyone waving goodbye to Maelle at Verso's funeral made me tear up.Beat the game....I'm not sure I did the right thing![]()
