I Am A God
So weird how people hold black artists to random standards no one else is held to. Jay Z is an artist first. He's still releasing music, still recording. Dr Dre hasn't been fully focused on music in years, hasn't released a proper album in years, and doesn't even write his own music.
Why would Hov pass on tens of millions of dollars from touring? No one asks the Rolling Stones why they're still touring. In fact, as of July 2017 the top ten tours by revenue that year were:
- $151.5million – Guns N’ Roses
- $118.1million – U2
- $98.2million – Justin Bieber
- $88million – Metallica
- $68.2million – Depeche Mode
- $60.5million – Red Hot Chili Peppers
- $59million – Adele
- $57.2million – Ed Sheeran
- $54.5million – Eric Church
Half the list is made up of legacy acts. Half the list are dudes in their 50s and 60s, still touring. Bono has significantly more money than Hov or Beyonce and still tours. You'd never hear anyone say "Bono needs to stop touring and get his paper" or "why is Bono slaving for Ticket Master."
- $52.7million – Bruno Mars
Some people like their job. Some people like touring. There's nothing wrong with it.
You guys still don't get it, none of these artists you mentioned markets themselves as billionaire businessmen who doesn't have to make music. Bono and U2 have always been artists FIRST. Jay-Z's whole shtick was that he wasn't a rapper, he's a hustler who just so happens to rap and is this BOSS when in reality he's just an artist and a worker. He takes out large advances from Live Nation and has to get on the road every year to support his lifestyle.
He's not Robert F. Smith (a real black billionaire). He's just an artist and a worker and there's nothing wrong with that........but so many people get caught up in the lies. That's all Sc00n was trying to tell everyone. Believe half of what you see, none of what you hear.
