Aimless, directionless people often find themselves in military service. This is something that happens world wide.

If not the military it's some other gang of thugs with guns.

I agree but going to college just to go to the military was pointless unless you are doing stuff for DOD.

Seriously. They get all indignant when you're not topping them off for being GI Joe. FOH. :camby:

But you're not American though... You have no background to address the military. We're Americans. Our spouses/fathers/grandfathers served in US military... :camby:

Advice: Air Force. Look for programs in beautiful countries, and consider grad school.
NASA loves STEM w/ military experience, especially if you can pilot.
You should be able to walk into a six-figure job once you graduate, trust me.
If you're an engineer USPHS has spots as well, that you can easily lateral into a high paying job without ever having to leave the country.

So what's the best branch for a guy like me to join? As in someone who is primarily concerned with the paychecks and does not necessarily have a raging war or patriotism boner, although would still like to test himself, physically and mentally?
If you are concerned about paychecks, look into joining as an officer, and go to the branch's Officer Candidate School. This way, you become an officer from the start. Your pay at O-1 will be much higher than an E-4, which is where you would start with a college degree.

What would you guys suggest for someone who is 32 and is interested. I have a master's (non stem), have a good job, and in great shape. Because of my job I'm only looking at the reserve route. I know each branch has an age cutoff in general, and I've probably missed the age cutoff for officer in all branches. I'm mainly interested in the benefits, and never know when military training will come in handy. Any suggestions?

I am an American. At least as American as a Black person can be. I was born here. Both parents are citizens.
But none of your family was drafted or served in the military. You're a US citizen but you'll never be an American. Just like I can move to Nigeria and become a citizen and I'll never be Nigerian.

You have no history in THIS country. And you have no stake in this country. No one in your family paid the price for your freedom in this country. You're here on the backs of these dead "GI Joes"

You're here to have a better life COURTESY OF MY PEOPLE...

Have you considered the USPHS or USCG reserves?

U can use the VA loan more than once??? That's such a lick! Y'all winning by with that. And y'all can use USAA for insurance.

Never thought I'd see this patriotism on the Coli. The cognitive dissonance is staggering. What happened to the cac, that c00n this.

if I were you I'd try to be either an Air Force or Navy officer. The military isn't a bad gig you won't be getting brainwashed or any of that stupid shyt it's a job just like anything else. but I'm just a brainwashed Marine :mjlol:

Just make sure your job can translate to the civilian world and you'll be good come travel to foreign lands and get hoes

I'm not military, just a prior USAA employee of 7 years

You can flip the VA loan as many times as you want, it even has a feature called bonus entitlement where you can use it twice at one time.
