Yeah I'm far from being an Apple Stan (I have never owned an Apple phone) but I think they actually cater to both sides pretty well. I am still using an iPad from 6 years ago. Some people argue that Apple actually loses profits because their stuff stays relevant for a long time and a lot of people like me only replace stuff when it stops working.
On the other side, they are constantly innovating for the people that constantly need the newest shiniest thing. I think Apple probably does string these people along more than they need to but those people don't seem to be complaining. They're willing participants.
Had my galaxy s6 for almost two years....then I upgraded to this galaxy s8+Nope. As long as my phone works and is in good condition, i am not buying a new one just because. I still got a Galaxy 4.
It's almost too much phone for me.
Oh yeah. Apple makes great products. I've used several. But I've never been sold on the iPhone. Every time I got a chance to upgrade to the latest iPhone with my plan I've declined.
What's the discerning element between iPhones and Android phones in 2017 other than the OS?

i think the hardware is slightly upgraded with each iteration
don't get me wrong, I have NO love for these corporations and I don't think they should be getting special breaks. But I don't feel like they are some evil conglomerate because they want to release new phones every year to make profit.

Yeah but if they build a defective product which is designed to go bad in a couple of years so customers are forced to buy a new one, that's different. Cars have much longer lifespans and are built with much greater quality and durability.
