Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
You can tell that he struggled with lifting that much weight. It's good that he's working out again. If he didn't, the money he spent on smart lipo would have been a waste, but he can afford it. He looks much better when he's in shape.

What does this have to do with his music though? Shouldn't this be in the locker room or the gym section?

Damn. This dude was fat like that?

alot of tough guys in here I see..

Nothing is wrong with the smith machine if thats is all you have to work with.

My job only has the smith machine apparently for insurance purposes. Its still useful and I can get a decent workout. Regular bench is better but I use what is available.

Also going down all the way with a shoulder injury is a good way to destroy your shoulder. I ripped my right shoulder last winter doing 80lbs dumb-bell inclines. It took almost 3 months to recover....

Talk as much shyt as you want he is still working out his chest with those reps

Also....I feel good working out on smith machine knowing the only people that have a problem with it make less money than me

Drake's trainer is a fukking moron. I've seen videos of shyt he's had Drake do before, and dude obviously has no clue what he's doing.

Not only is benching on a Smith machine easy (adds 100+ pounds to your bench) but its also dangerous; especially if you go heavy. Its an unnatural range of motion, and regular usage of it can fukk up your joints. Squatting on a Smith machine is even worse.

fukk that hotel excuse too. You got to A) find a hotel that has a suitable gym, B) find a real gym in the city your in, or C) work out a different body part. Drake is doing more harm than good benching on a Smith Machine. The fact that Drake's trainer thought it was a good look to post this shyt on Instagram shows me just how little of a clue he has.

This is so stupid

salute threadstarter, thread title got me laughin so hard i prob won't be able to get to sleep now. first of all, the bar aint even come near his chest, lmao, them struggle ass reps. and secondly, for any serious gym heads it's common knowledge, if yo ass is benching on the smith machine you are a fukkboy or an old ass man, or a laughable novice. I sometimes, very rarely, use the smith machine for squats, i could probably bench 500 five times on the smith machine. judging off this clip he could probably bench 200 on the smith machine 8 times cleanly... if that's the case why doesn't his trainer put him on the real bench and let him start out at 135 (2 plates plus the bar) and pyramid up to like 185 for 2-3 reps after like 4 sets of increasing and keep that routine for a week, 2-3 times a week, and then increase the 2-3 rep set weight to 200 the following week, etc...? he would see gains way faster, and get stronger way faster. and get this man on the cables, hit them pulldowns, son got triceps like my daughter tryna flex with the benchin

Can you detail on this?

My gym doesn't have a squat rack, so everybody squats on the smith machines....I do calf raises and deep squats on it....in my gym, to do free barbell squats i need to use a barbell from a bench press and support it to the dips machine, which is a fukkboy move cause you disable 2 equipments for you to do 1 exercise, so you are obligated to use the smith machine

Smith machine moves in a straight, up and down motion, which for squatting is an unnatural movement. This puts more stress on your joints, which over time can do serious damage to your knees. Also, at the peak of your lift, the bar will continue to go up with the momentum you've used to lift the weight up (we're only talking centimeters in most cases, but it still matters. That weight then goes down on your body and stresses your back and knees on squats, or your elbows and shoulders on bench. If dude is trying to be mindful of Drake's shoulders, going heavy on the smith machine is the last thing he should have him doing. Regularly using a Smith Machine to lift heavy will DESTROY your joints. Also, just like with most machines, the Smith Machine doesn't require you to use your stabilization muscles, making your gains less than what they would be. Smith Machines exist only to serve the following purposes:

1. Injury rehab with very light weight.
2. Allowing hotels, corporate employee gyms, etc, to give their patrons an option as far as benching and squatting, without significantly increasing their vulnerability for litigation that can come from injuries often sustained from using free weights incorrectly.
3. Use for gyms that cater to weak asses (Planet Fitness, Youfit, etc.) and stock minimal free weights because they can intimate their target membership base.

If a Smith Machine is all you have on chest day, do pushups with plates on your back. Don't do squats on a Smith Machine EVER.
