Interesting thread.
But in the end, like @OnlyInCalifornia said, he's still going platinum.
I get the hate for the new sales measuring system and agree with ere'thing that ere'body else already said in here. It's dumb and all the most pertinent points against it have all been raised previously.
But as pertains to Drake specifically....despite what some don't wanna admit, the fact is that Drake is arguably the biggest rapper in the world at the moment and, more importantly, people don't CARE that he's an actor playing a rapper...
Hell, why should they? Be real, why should THIS be a hindrance to Drake's success if fraudulence wasn't a hindrance to the success of his contemporaries? So if the public don't care about rappers kissing other rappers in the mouth or rappers being C.O.'s while steadfastly denying it or rappers wearing skirts and makeup or rappers wearing Hooters shirts while brandishing nines and dancing like suggestive fakkits....why would they care about THIS beige nikka being a fraudulent writer?
That's not logical, it doesn't follow.
So then it also doesn't follow....why would they care if he inflates his sales numbers? Ain't no integrity (or accountability TOWARDS having integrity) anymore, people "just want the music".
At the end of the day, NONE of these rappin/singin cats made themselves popular.
But yeah....1,500 streams equals an equivalent album sale now? Gee, arbitrary much?
