That's wild. I can't remember the last time I've watched but it's still sad to see the show go.

I highly recommend listening to that episode of PTFO. Around the Horn put on a lot of journalists and it was great to hear how Tony Reali's got the job. He was in the right place and the right time and he succeeded.

He got too comfortable in his role instead of pulling Marty Smith in diversifying and showing versatility.

The fact that he saw other talent getting let go for the same thing and not peeping game is mind boggling.

Dude would rather go from interview to interviewing griping about the situation instead of asking ESPN are there other roles he can help take on.

You say that like Marty Smith isn't the ESPN equivalent of the the old school wacky weatherman that used to go random places just because. Show me the person who is out here riding hard for Marty and McGee. Tell me who is out here talking about how much he added to the random Bowl Games he has attended and had to act like he is hopelessly dedicated to the name sponsors of. And I'm saying this as someone who to this day thinks that his story he told relating Virginia Tech to his relationship with his father at Frank Beamer's last game is one of the best few minutes of sports TV in a long while. Not everyone is interested in taking on that role, breh. Especially since that role is for more replaceable than you'd think. And besides, if I were Reali, and had Around the Horn and contributing to Good Morning America on the record, I'd think they would be willing to work with me on other assignments as well.

That shyt wasn’t like it was now. Sports Reporters was on Sunday morning at like 9am, most people weren’t watching that shyt and it was the ONLY show that had any type of debate.

Facts. And if we're being honest, the debate wasn't the type you see all over ESPN now. I remember people used to shyt on Mike Lupica for being a clown on that show all the time. But it is what it is. I'm old enough to remember when First Take was just he 1st and 10 segment on Cold Pizza. The audience spoke, and that's what they wanted. Unfortunately, ESPN understood what people wanted, but completely fukked up why, and gave us what we have now.

That shyt literally lasted not even two weeks, so I wouldn't use that as a talking point in his favor and I'm sure he wouldn't either. Golic thought the same thing with Mike and Mike as well in making him valuable to the company and look what happened.

It don't matter whether people are out here riding for Marty and McGee. They saw the writing on the wall and what ESPN was pivoting towards and diversified themselves so they didn't end up on the chopping block as well.

The fact of the matter is that they're still going to be employed while Reali is literally out here trying to talk his way into another gig in inteview after interview.
