Compared to Biggie and Pac in their Peak, Jay coming out indie in Ny of course it wasn't for specially not among 13 year old kids in Atlanta.
Neither was OB4CL, Iron man, Ridin Dirty, Liquid Swordz and on. Even albums like The Infamous were grinders, not as bad as RD but it wasn't instant super success. Illmatic did the same numbers as RD too, and if it wasn't for the Jews giving it 5 mics cats wouldn't try to act like it didn't flop.
People just love that Jay wasn't one of the biggest rappers (for the 12 first moths of his career).
