1.Rakim was aleady an Mc,conscious and gritty (as nas would later be) before nas came around.
i dont know what you mean by merged the grittiness of a tongue twisting rapper,i saw zero tongue twist influence in nas at all. And are you saying all tongue twisting rappers had grit?
2.Sampling funk was popular where? In the game as a whole?
3.It's not about who meth influenced,if you're saying nas stopped rappers from being blatantly stylish (which meth was),yet meth came out right after Nas and was way more popular and an instant star. That's evidence that nas didnt make the game shift away from that,as you and others have insinuated or blatantly claimed.
Saying Rakim influenced everyone is a cop out. NO POPULAR rapper ever sounded as much like rakim as nas did and no one was compared as much as nas was because of this.
I dont understand your point regarding the bolded
Poverty's Paradise won the 1996 grammy
1. Like I said before "All the 80's MC rappers tried to reinvent themselves or went the Hip-Hop purist route". Rakim was an MC, but timb boots, hoodies, hard hip hop gritty? Conscious? He reinvented himself but the last two are not his strong points. It's about merging them in a formula that is superior.
Tongue twist rappers are not necessarily gritty, but there were gritty Tongue Twisters. Why else would I have you look up Poverty's Paradise? There was a huge East Coast scene you guys are not aware of. Real hip-hop heads know this scene because it was very dominant.
2. Why else would they call it G-Funk?
3. I have another post were it shows meth before and after. You can clearly see Meth's style is more honed. He's not saying animated shyt like "Hey Hey Hey like fat Albert".
What do you want me to say, Rakim didn't Influence everyone? It's the truth He's the God MC Rakim Allah.......But shyt evolves, things change and styles get played out.
"NO POPULAR rapper ever sounded as much like rakim as nas did and no one was compared as much as nas was because of this."
You just sonned yourself. You admit Nas was getting the most comparisons to Rakim. Rakim's last big run was '92, Nas' Hafttime single came in '92. Without Nas, Rakim's style dies. Do you not see the importance of the 2nd coming of Rakim on the scene is. Is everything now connecting?
"I dont understand your point regarding the bolded"
I know you don't. If you did, you wouldn't be arguing. There was a whole scene you are not aware of.
East Coast hiphop doesn't go from Rakim BDK KRS >to Nas, Big etc.
It goes Rakim BDK KRS >to Tongue Twist Rappers > to Nas, Big.
This is why I know you don't know what you are talking about.
