Meanwhile we building 2 new aircraft carriers that cost 13,000,000,000,000 (13 billl) each. That's before the trillions it costs to maintain them. With 10 planned total. :stopitslime:

According to some posters, we need to spend that much to protect Grenada and help Haiti in case of another earthquake.

just needs someone who is transparent..

and only wants one term.
I could do that. I'm not a charismatic person, like Bill Clinton, so I don't think I could get votes. You have to be a charismatic person to get votes. That's not me. I'm more like Vladimir Putin. I know what I want, and I will do it my way. A bit icy.

I don't see anything wrong with having citizens invest in their own futures, and I believe it(when properly implemented)it yields better results than simply giving it to them. Even now with cost far higher than they should(and need) be, college is still a worthwhile investment that yields a healthy positive return.

Sidenote: Are any of the worlds top universities tuition free?

Well why don't we go back to the 1700s and just abolish funding for public education alltogether. No vouchers, subsidies...nothing.

Let citizens invest in their own future. Let them start in Kindergarten. It builds character.

In theory this is what we should want eventually in the United States. However, obviously easier said than done. US has 4 times the population of Germany. It'll be hard to do this on a national scale. The best thing for the country to encourage states to take the initiative to create their own programs that will eventually eliminate tuition so to speak.

We are all going to pay for it one way or another (taxes) the money has to come from somewhere. The question is are you willing to give up a percentage of your earnings to support college education at this magnitude.

Harvard has actually entertained the idea. Its endowment is big enough to support it.

:ehh: I support this kind of move in conjunction with an overhaul of k-12, and believe employee aptitude test can render better results not just for the economy as a whole, but for employers as well.

'the best person for the job', shouldn't simply be the 'most educated person for the job' IMO.

Now at a state level, something like this seems fine. If say California wanted to for the bill for in state tuition, I wouldn't be opposed to it.

No, we could it if we wanted to. Washington is just on dumb shyt as usual. I was very happy when Ezra Klein said people in DC do terrible research--like borderline in competence, let alone interest groups. For example:

Here's Exactly How Much the Government Would Have to Spend to Make Public College Tuition-Free
And the grand total is...

The US also has over 4 times the GDP
