Well why don't we go back to the 1700s and just abolish funding for public education alltogether. No vouchers, subsidies...nothing.

Germany is like the size of New Mexico with 20% of the people the US has.. and 90+% are Germans. America adopting such measures is a monumentally different endeavor. America is actually designed to be a meat grinder that squeezes the life from the those beneath.

Once you have enough people with degrees to fill an entry level job, you don't even have to consider those without a degree. From a high level view, college graduates are better employees. Even if the passion is the equal, the college graduate has had years of training. The American way: sell the degree at the highest price the market will bear.

A person that guts it out and gets it is better than the one who flakes out. Just by virtue of the struggle.

I honestly think if America was a homogeneous white country like Scandanavia, we would have a much more robust welfare state.

I think there are a lot of programs that are not enacted because some people have this notion Black people will be the main beneficiaries and will be taking away from "Hard working Americans"

So they cut off their noses to spite their face.

Truman actually tried to pass universal healthcare and the south fought against it because they would have had to integrate their hospitals. Which was ironic because the south was the poorest region and had the worst healthcare In the nation.

I find it mind boggling that at a time when other nations are placing such a high priority on educating their workforce and not saddling the youth with debt, we seem to not give a fukk. It is sad actually.

"Providing protection" makes it sound like you're doing out of altruism, which is BS. The US is just managing its interests in the world, like any country. Washington doesn't care one bit about "protecting" Europe or Japan lol, they only do because they gain more from it (directly or indirectly) than otherwise.

We shouldn't be protecting anyone.. building million dollar bases anywhere..... starting wars.
We should build up our defense, but not attempt to maintain an empire.
We ignore madddddddd genocide and fukkery in this world- so it's not even about doing the right thing......we are just protecting financial and political interest.

With some of that money - we could afford more Educational grants, Better educational loan rates (or less than 1% interest), and more free education. A more educated population > over the top defense of all these fukk nations.

Individual states can't be forced into doing that. Not every state has the same budget. Compare California, Texas, Delaware and Vermont. All have different populations, industries and state revenue.

the money has to come mostly from the federal level.
