Latest numbers from the US Census and the Department of education for 2021 have come out and the news is surprisingly good for Black folks.
On one front, the latest Census population estimates show that
the number of Black men and women in the 25-29 age category (prime for dating and family formation) have equalized. As late as 2010 there were 100k more Black women than men in this age group due to the effects of previously higher Black male infant mortality rates and the echoes of the crack wars in the 80s and 90s. Some of this may be due to immigration but that age range is too small for immigration to account for most of the gap reduction.
Gen Z doesn't and won't have the same issues of numerically less Black men that previous generations did. There are a little under 2M each of Black men and Black women 25-29 now.
See the data here.
Second, the Department of Education numbers for 2021, despite showing issues in college participation and the persistent gap between Black women and men 25-29 with at least a Bachelor's degree (12 percent), have shown that within statistical error margins,
the percent of Black men and women 25-29 with at least a Master's degree or higher has equalized. Same for Hispanic men and women.
So Black men have a lower bachelor's degree rate but percentage wise more are going on to get more education now after college than female counterparts. I can't really say in what fields.
Speaking of gender gaps though, these are headed to around 9-12% for all races it seems. The biggest change is with White men and women. White women and Black women passed the men in around 2000 when the gap was about 3% for White women and 9% for Black women for Bachelors degree and higher. Since then Black women have only seen their gap increase about 33% while White women have seen theirs grow 3X.
Therefore the education gender gap for White women is now statistically identical to what Black women started seeing in 2000.
See data here, especially table 104.20.
Now the effects on domestic politics and the dating situation, both among Whites and IR, is going to be interesting but could be frightful. College age White women will have to actually compete for a smaller pool of equally educated White men and this could be more crazy than anything Black women ever did. Especially if they are confronted with IR competition from Asians, Latinas, or even Black women. Black women and men couldn't cause bigger power dynamics issues due to our dating/marriage issues because we have relatively little power. That's not the story with White folks.
There are currently White pundits saying the labor market should "reevaluate" (read: devalue) college credentials so White men without college degrees aren't left behind.
If you think redpill/MRA are bad now. Hold on to your hats....
