It’s a couple bangers on here, that’s all I ask for present day Gucci projects. The Lil Baby, E-40, Pooh Shiesty, and Peewee ones are the instant standouts

T.I. And jeezy been popping since ‘03 and ‘05 respectively, gucci doing what he should’ve been doing in ‘09-‘10. But drugs and jail held him back, tip and jeezy onto other ventures they don’t need to be the face of Atlanta trap music anymore.

This.

And this is all I was saying, yet posters in here made a HUGE deal out of it just because what I posted wasn't in step with their narrative. Gucci from like 2014-2015 to present is definitely bigger than Gucci from 2004-2014. BET would've never made his wedding a special event during his 2004-2014 run. They even brought up the charts before I even made my post and Gucci doesn't have a platinum or even gold certification before 2016 even for music he'd dropped like six years prior. It's like if you don't fall in line with the narrative, you're wrong regardless of how logical the counter argument or how much proof there is. We actually saw artists that Gucci put on become bigger than Gucci. He ended up being bigger than them. A lot of that gets pushed to the background because people don't really discuss the artists he put on or even the producers.

It wasn't even like I was dissing Gucci, knocking him, or said anything negative against him. Then again, people legit said Gucci had a clone and people actually believed that one too.

:what:You said his music didn't resonate in the 00s. In 09 was one of the biggest rappers out, he fukked up it by continuously going to jail, he was still popping, he was still a factor. You're comparing him to mainstream rappers saying he wasn't on their level. No shyt, all his best shyt was free mixtapes. Doesn't mean nikkas wasn't playing them just as much as the other 2. There's a reason all 3 are mentioned together and not just ti and Jeezy.

And of course bet ain't gonna show drugged up, hitting nikkas in the head with bottles, throwing bytches outta cars, shytting on the whole industry, unstable Gucci's wedding special. :skip:

:russ: 2009 is the tail end of the decade and he first hit on a national level with "So Icey". Even with as big of a push as he got in 2009, he still didn't actually blow up. Can't use the "he wasn't mainstream enough" argument.Gucci Mane is a factor NOW. He wasn't so much then.

The dumbest part of your post is YOU ALL sat there and compared him to mainstream rappers like T.I. and Jeezy BEFORE I even posted in this thread.

There's no real barometer to say a Gucci Mane was played more than the other two. And see you're even comparing him to mainstream rappers in attempting to say he was played as much as the other two. Sales aside, I can tell you he wasn't. There was NO Gucci tape that hit as hard as Trap or Die in the 00's. Not even on the Can't Ban The Snowman level. T.I. was never a mixtape dude, but Down With The King was a bigger deal than the Gucci tapes.

And you're lost. What about my post implied BET would show Gucci throwing people out of cars etc. I mentioned the BET special because he wouldn't have gotten one during his initial run. They could've based a special on Gucci without showing anything criminal.

I mentioned already he fukked up going to jail in 09. He was one of the biggest rappers that year, regardless. The blogs and everyone was on his dikk, mixtapes stayed in rotation. But I said 09 cause he was attaboy the biggest rapper, he was relevant 06-08 as well, the general consensus was that's his best run.

Gucci mane is one of the most influential nikkas of the last decade. Do you think that's cause of the shyt he's releasing now? Be real.

Quote a post where I mentioned Jeezy and ti. It wasn't until you said his shyt ain't resonate.

And I can tell you he was, we can't prove neither. When they mention trap, is Gucci not mentioned with the other 2? How he get there if he wasn't a factor?:yeshrug: go check all them mixtape sites and you'll see all his shyt did numbers. You're talking about quality, with Gucci mane it was quantity. nikka putting out 20 mixtapes a year, you don't need one to be big. He getting steady play all year off that.

My point was he was too unstable. 09 Gucci definitely could've got a special if he wasn't fukking up. Since getting it of prison, his music quality has dropped, but he's been able to stay out of trouble. That's why he's getting all these looks. He still ain't doing major numbers like that.

06-08, Gucci was good for a banger here and there from "I Might Be" to "Freaky Gurl". He didn't have the streets on fire like Jeezy or T.I. We didn't see Gucci have that type of run until last decade.

Breh, just because he is influential off of his past music doesn't necessarily mean it was a big deal then. For example, Three Six Mafia is highly influential now, but in the 90's, they weren't a huge act. They had a cult following. It wasn't until the 00's with When The Smoke Clears that they blew up and many hold Mystic Stylez as their most influential project even though it hardly made a dent in 1995. As the group got bigger, people went back and discovered their older music. When Juicy J had his solo and all these newer artists and producers cited them as influences,, people went and did their research.. Happens with nearly every artist.

And quality does matter because you could put out a 100 mixtapes and still don't have any impact with anyone outside of your base. If you put out 20 mixtapes and not ONE is big, something is wrong.

Breh, Gucci has certifications from 2016 to present that he didn't have before. Crazy numbers.

06-09 is the general consensus for his best run, breh, that's a fact. Most his classics come from that era.

Gucci ain't have no streets on fire run after he got out, his shyt gets mixed reactions. He's had a mainstream run though.

Your comparing 90s to 10s with the 3 6 shyt. It's not the same. Gucci shyt was less than 10 years, people ain't need to go back cause they lived it.

If you put out 20 mixtapes in a year, with 5 dope songs and the rest are cool, that shyt adds up.

And mixtapes have been dead during 16-present. It's not really all that crazy. shyt would've been the same if streaming was around during the mixtape era.

But I'm done breh. :hubie:

His best run =/= him being a factor though.

So you're telling me that East Atlanta Santa nor Return of East Atlanta Santa weren't big in the streets?

Breh, there's actual proof that people went back. The people who actually lived it are people who are in their 30's now. Gucci has a plethora of people who are younger fans who were children during the 00's.

If I'm not mistaken, sites like Datpiff had it where streams were counted. You could listen to whole tapes and they had charts of the most played tapes and you could see how many times it was played or downloaded.

5 dope songs out of 20 mixtapes is not good no matter how you slice it.
