His best run =/= him being a factor though.

So you're telling me that East Atlanta Santa nor Return of East Atlanta Santa weren't big in the streets?

Breh, there's actual proof that people went back. The people who actually lived it are people who are in their 30's now. Gucci has a plethora of people who are younger fans who were children during the 00's.

If I'm not mistaken, sites like Datpiff had it where streams were counted. You could listen to whole tapes and they had charts of the most played tapes and you could see how many times it was played or downloaded.

5 dope songs out of 20 mixtapes is not good no matter how you slice it.
Not like his mixtapes were. My favorite Gucci is 12-14. But I'm in the minority. If I made a thread asking which was his best run, the 00s run is winning, easy.

Yeah but you're ignoring that kids downloaded music and other factors. I've been downloading shyt since I was 10, and I was late in my class. Kids after that especially when Gucci was getting on had it easier.

Yeah they did. His shyt was always at the top on that and livemixtapes. But I'm saying if they would've counted like today's streaming, he'd have plaques.

You missed what I'm saying. If he has 4-5 dope songs on each of the 20 tapes, that shyt adds up.

As I'm reading through your responses, I'm noticing two things:

1) You're basing it off what you liked personally

2) Much of what you're saying aligns with my initial post. The one that most of you took offense to and said was wrong.

Also, there's a difference between listening to an artist at 10 actually experiencing that music as an adult.

1. Not at all. 06-09 I ain't even fukking like Gucci or the trap music as a whole. My favorite rappers have always been outkast and I was on that "real hip hop" bullshyt.

2. You said his music didn't resonate, it did. He just wasn't mainstream and continually fukked up. A good comparison would be chief keef. His shyt wasn't mainstream and he fukked up when the major was tryna blow him, but you can't say he wasn't a factor and his music ain't resonate.

:hubie: really done now.

I thought I would like Posse on Bouldercrest a lot more. I do appreciate Gucci keeping the OG flow from the song but it aint hittin me like I thought it would. A lot more songs on here I like tho, but I thought that was going to be the one for me.
