If I haven't eaten, 45 minutes since your body doesn't start burning calories until after 15 minutes of working out. This is where the notion that working out in the morning is best - With no food to process first, the body burns fat faster.

If I have eaten then I'm on the treadmill for 1 hr 15 minutes.

Im not being offensive or throwing shade when I ask this, as someone who runs daily, I have to ask, why do you walk for a quarter mile?

For me my legs don't even really warm up until about 2-2.5 miles in, so if you're running an 8 minute mile, are you just catching your breath and/slowing your heart?

And are you walking like 3.0mph or just taking it down to a jog? When I do intervals or jog in zones, sometimes i have to cut the speed. Like I'll be jogging lightly at 4.6mph or so.

There ain't nothing wrong with walking or jogging. It's actually better for you. You want to be able to stop or slow down and have your heart rate drop quickly, as well as be able to jump up when it needs to and operate efficiently while working effectively or excessively.

I'm pretty out of breath after an 8 min mile and can't keep that pace up much longer.

Usually I'll set it down to a light jog at like 4.5 until I catch my breath, and repeat. I don't go any lower than 4.0.

Never claimed I was in good shape :yeshrug:

Your body has to burn through a fair amount of glycogen before you get to burning fat as a primary fuel source.
