I didn't say it was frowned upon generally speaking. I said it USED to be frowned upon if you were considered an elite MC. And that's what the whole discussion is really about. Can you be considered an elite MC if you use ghostwriters? Alot of people actually did consider Drake a top MC. He was always in that discussion with J. Cole and Kendrick as the top MCs of this generation.

He is better than them to me.. But cole probably tells better stories and Kendrick has better wordplay.. But to me IMO Drake had the album I llistened to the most.. I know that's blasphemy but I just think his production/team/ghostwriters made it more entertaining overall. you had club songs, slow songs, strip club songs and just good rap songs.. go ahead and say I am a female or teenage white girl or soft or whatever because I aint riding with the back pack rappers

I haven't seen ANYBODY say that ghostwriting is uncommon.

That's Drake stans trying to point the finger at everybody else because he got caught with another mans hand up his ass all while trying to gain credibility as a EMCEE.

Any of the supposed "flat top" "real heads" blah blah blah know what the deal is. Ghostwriting has been around from the JUMP, and so has been separating the wheat from the chaff when we start talking about who are the GREAT EMCEES in this culture.

Drake is now exempt from that conversation. Meep was except whether he uses ghost writers or not.

And as much as I love Cube he's been a sell out, not expecting him to switch it up now especially on a promo run involving the history on a group where it was mostly 2 people penning everybodies rhymes...he'd essentially be saying "fukk them, I deserve all the credit" to 2/3 of everybody involved

I'm to who outside of Drake stans and the advertising geniuses at Sprite would put Drake in a great MC's conversation. I'm talking even before anyone knew he had writers.

I really don't see anyone who thought THAT highly of Drake changing their opinion. It's an issue of credibility, but I don't think people would look at anyone who thinks of Drake as a great (except compared to the likes of maybe anyone who debuted after 2009) as credible. If we're talking all time, nah. Then again, there's some people that have Kanye ranked and were taken seriously. The Source had Kanye as a Top 50 lyricist ever.

I never knew that about Pac or that he had used a written verse for that song. I don't think it's cool, but I guess I can understand that he was feeling the lyrics and decided to use a verse from one of his friends, instead of going into the trash bin. Still slightly different than hiring someone and pay him like you would pay for a maid.

But my statement still stands - if you're a rapper, talking about being the best and all that and you don't write your shyt - then you're shyt. Dre makes cool music, is a great producer, but I will never respect him as a rapper because he's basically an actor who performs music. I will listen to your music, but you'll never be one of the greatest.

That's dope that you can be so understanding after learning pacs debut single and a couple of other songs from his debut album were written by someone else...being able to look at that situation with some measure of nuance is admirable, it would have been so easy to take that information and then immediately follow the illogical fallacy of "since ray luv wrote trapped, Pac didn't write anything and is thus a complete fraud " ...but somehow you were able to rise above such simple and flawed reasoning. ..congrats
