Nah fam I lived through the era did you? And I know Puff made Big rap over the Juicy beat & big hated it but did it anyway. D-Rock confirms the story in a interview he did. Pac might've given him some tidbits but he was indirectly trying to take credit for Big's success which is just plain![]()

fukk is you talm bout im probally the oldest member on this board FAM...i'll be Culture Wisdom this year..that's 42 to your unenlightened self
not only I lived thru that era..I LIVED IN THAT AREA .....BEDSTUY.....when I attended Medgar Evers college in BK from 92 to 94.....
where Hancock meets Nostrand ave to be exact!!!........
and all you do know is what the SCRIPT of that NOTORIOUS movie told you
I use to flip mixtapes in the albee square mall in bk with a cousin whom knew 50 grand the deejay who first ran with BIG
The mixtapes we flipped eventually help build the foundation of the bizness known as DO OR DIE mixtape which eventually got sold to some Russian kid who turned it into TAPEKINGZ..which resulted in TAPEKINGZ.COM
BIG ran with PAC hard and ran with a lot of concepts as far as song structure that PAC gave him
PUFF had the marketing genius and dollars and connections courtesy of his boss CLIVE DAVIS to make it happen on the radio
That was after his death when Puff saw had all that dough coming in. And everyone knows Puff's a snake & a piece of shyt.
And if you listened to Busta's interview about the bootlegging he was putting his own album in the streets because his street buzz was off the charts at time & he was building off that & he knew it wouldn't affect his bottom line. It was kinda genius in a way. Know your history bro
wrong again DUMBAZZ....ready to die had quarterly statements coming in from global sales that validated he BEEN HAD DOUGH COMING IN
Mark Curry and plenty of others spoke on that which is why BIG was so eager to do shows no matter what the venue was.....
Undeas his consultant/friend spoke about how thirsty he was for bread cause the wait on the royalty payments was killing him
this mofo was doing shows at ratchet gutta spots like Cool Runnings in Jville when I was down their in florida for spring break 95......
Which validates his own instinct to sell copies of his own shyt in the street, cause Bad Boy was charging him for the work their street team put in for promotional work along with arista's shipping costs......all these expenses was eating his revenue...
AND YOU GONNA SIT THIER AND SAY BIG KNEW IT WOULDN'T AFFECT HIS BOTTOM LINE?!?!?
BIG needed liquid cash dummy, he just didn't want anyone else in on that bootlegging hustle of his shyt....which is why he got at DJ CLUE.
Thier is some TRUTH to what @stomachlines is saying
The whole hit making formula that BIG got from pac is what JAY Z followed
Prior to his link with BIG ...jay z hook game was weak
Lyrics were hard..but his song structure was subpar

Choke on Al Haymon's dikk
bruh, come on now. you and i both know how huge and big of talent biggie was.
jay is good but biggie was great
biggie had shyt on LOCK
and if he would not have died, i don't think shyt would've change that anytime soon with life after death bein' the masterpiece it is and his victory verse
when big was here, jay won't holdin' no candle to his greatness. it was only after big was gone that jay begin to find his way
jay had a lane that was his for takin' with big bein' gone and that annie sample
i ain't tryin' to argue but i'm only callin' shyt for what it is
you swerved answering dudes point.....
simple fact of the matter is whether you think Biggie was better than Jay doesnt mean he still wouldnt have sold what he did... why Jay and not Ja rule or 50 or Nellie? or whoever
because Biggie was better than all of them .... what you are saying isnt logical
the difference is nas didn't have the exact same lane as jay
nas tried to play the field like jay has but never could never really play the field with songs for the radio and clubs outside of shyt like oochie wally
jay could always supply the clubs and streets but in a very light weight version of what biggie did perfectly
that's what makes big so special. big could do it all so perfectly without ever losin' his step
nas is great when he not tryin' to chase a hit and just does him. jay is good at makin' mind numbin' club shyt but biggie could do what both they could and more
?who cares? You do realize them nikkas rap completley different right? You know how many nikkas i know who will never listen to Jay because he simply dont "sound hard"? nikkas aint listening to Jay because he rap about coke too, they liked the way he rapped period....more poetic, faaaaar better wordplay, more clever, more cocky, way more introspective, stop me when Im wrong
...nikkas rapped in the same lane just fine,befor3 and after Biggie....funny thing is nikkas will cosign this bullshyt...but wont admit DMX wouldnt hve existed if Pac didnt die

By your logic 90% of ny rappers wouldnt hve existed if Biggie didnt die which we know is a damn lie...nikkas rapped in the same lane just fine,befor3 and after Biggie....funny thing is nikkas will cosign this bullshyt...but wont admit DMX wouldnt hve existed if Pac didnt die
Jay is a much different rpper from Biggie, and people like that![]()
dap + rep
Yeah, dude keeps trying to say Jay and Big were pretty much the same, and I just shake my head, as they don't really remind me of each other that much. They are both from Brooklyn, and rapped about selling drugs (on different levels), and that's where the similarities end to me.
BIG = Raw storytelling street cat, with exceptional charisma
Hov = Witty introspective hustler, with unapolagetic arrogance
...not only that but he remained towards the top of the totem pole in one of the most superstar heavy eras ever
....multiple eras actually, and nikkas still wanna call it a fluke
