Stand up shyt no doubt, but thats also cuz Mack and Joe fukk with each either based on some record label shyt, the movie they did
or connection with the same people, ie Steve Lobel maybe?

but it wasn’t Mack 10 it was gang members who don’t give a fukk about that who Joe stopped

Some of you guys are fukking morons. First who cares?
Second, context clues. Famous graffiti artist that was universally respected by almost all NYC crews at the time. Put Big Pun on. Was involved in Buck 50ing a former artist over money, had Roy Jones Jr back down.

What the fukk do you think?

Above the fray.
T.S. got all kind of connections:whew:

I told this story before...

But i remember going on fordham and seeing him basically help behind the counter in one of those lil stores that sell sneakers and hats...

I was so surprised at the visual i had to do a double take:pachaha:

Joe was chillin by himself like it was nothing...

Didnt his ex manager Macho work and/or own a shoe store tho? Couldve been why. Not that it would take away anything

Joe co-owned a store and clothing line called FJ560 on Melrose.
That's probably where he was behind the counter.

I don't know. There's a bunch of tough guys with stripes in prison or in the streets so assume he's one them. When the word legend is used that carries a different a weight so there's only a handful of them. That's the names you typically hear like Fat Cat, Pappy Mason, Rollack, Supreme, Supreme Magnetic, Alpo, etc. The top of the food chain or close to it types are in that category.

If you have to tell your own story you're not a legend. When you're a legend other people tell it for you.
not true for people who got out the game w/o jail or being killed.

the folks that were actually smart about their doings nobody knows about.

That's the opposite of a legend :gucci:

This thread is about legends not quiet gangsters.

Im looking at this interview and this dude talks like he was a 80s king pin :dahell:

He certified
fat joe did his street thing selling crack . he grew up around blacks and puerto ricans given that he from the Bronx had many black friends growing up. No, he wasn't this multi kilo cocaine kingpin flipping dude however he was surrounding by all of that and he was hustling surrounded by wolves and in the trenches and before Terror Squad his record label crew ,he was also part of the legendary underground rap scene D.I.T.C. Diggin In The Crates Crew that consisted of primarily Big L, Lord Finesse, Diamond D, O.C., , Buckwild, Showbiz and A.G.

Fat Joe also has lots of industry stories I thought he was going to continue his true hip hop stories on youtube series and I believe he was involve in partnering in running or promoting a nightclub uptown or something along those lines.

side note and fun facts: Fat Joe started his FJ
5150 clothing line but that fizzled . He did a movie with Mack 10 in the 90's.

Told this before in another thread. It was years after he was in the industry but...
“In 2002, when the NBA All Star game was in Philly, me and my man went to an afterparty in AC, Trump Plaza maybe? hosted by Ja Rule and Fat Joe... Ja was in a booth, surrounded by security guards... Joe was out in the crowd, no security, just couple of dudes in TS Avirex's... Gave him dap, told him I was a fan of him and Pun... My man smoked a blunt with Charli Baltimore, thought he was gonna smash but no such luck...”

SMF and LAX to VA and NC
My bops thru NY, i never heard that Joe wasn't official...

Stories were consistent from cats from different boroughs. Gotta remember this dude Joe is 50 years old. Stories were he survived the crack era in NY as an active participant, not a kingpin or this serial killer but it was pretty clear he wasn't some sideline nuthugger riding coattails. I respect his history...

He can be really corny in interviews though, nikka be extra loud and shyt for no reason lol. But I respect his background and his come up...

Breh, most of the stories that Joe has told...have been verified by other people who were around in that era too.

Yayo, Spider Loc and dem goons had him running from the BET Awards when 50 almost stepped to him on stage.

It was MTV. You cats gotta stop running with this lie though.

What's crazy is video footage of back stage dropped in the original thread on SOHH, the night this happened. 50 and his people was nowhere near Joe. Joe bounced because MTV security made them leave.

I guess this is the part where somebody claims I'm a Joe stan or some weird shyt....I doubt you can find a single post of my talking about Fat Joe since I joined the site. But let's cut the bullshyt out.

Fred.

He's not a street legend. If he wasn't rapping you wouldn't know who he was. The guys who are legendary have names solely based on what they did in the streets.

What math are we doing?

Y'all acting like Terror Squad was the Supreme Team:beli:

Terror Squad wasn't even the name of his crew before rap.

you mentioned somewhere that your not a legend if you have to tell your story.
fat joe would ever consider himself to be a street legend. i think folks you are responding to can get being "real" and "legend" mix up.

yes he sold crack and was hustling and was with "real" about his business and was connected to known dudes. his terror squad group TS however was more of a colllective of real individuals to get on the rap game behind the scenes and those that can rap or sing etc for his label. it was not like a Supreme Team that was hustling first in a major way and carve their name as that.

to be honest, too many cats making money back then and of course the stories gets bigger associated ties to hip hop and such. you can tie in hip hop to black drug organizations and that gives them more "life" so to speak in documentaries.
lot of spanish drug organization making a lot of money those that didn't have the rapper that represented them like how you can attached jarule 50cent story to Supreme .
not saying you but folks get confused with legend and being "real". Fat joe is real and not a legend
fat joe has never claim to be a street legend. yes he was a hustler sold crack and was with legendary dudes not including TS. he worked for his "boss". i think fat joe has good stories in hip hop and streets stories to share and nothing wrong with that cause his stories are entertaining .
yes in hip hop he was a legend because
for his penetrating in hip hop as a latino to the highest level. his ties to legendary underground groups like DITC Diggin In the Crates Crew that had individuals each doing great contributions to hip hop, fat joe overall contribution to hip hop and paving the way for Big Pun and stories like letting a music label talk to Diamond D from DITC enabling Diamond D get his solo career going etc...

you had many black and latin drug clicks that are legends but their names dont travel that far cause it wasn't like they had a stand out rapper from their camp that represented them or made a movie and also especially latin drug organizations didnt really penetrate the hip hop market even though you had individuals in the background in hip hop.
for example, you had legendary domincan organziations even Camron mentioned dudes like Gordo I believe but names like Boy George ring bells not only was he huge but he was associated with hip hop. Big Daddy Kane talked about performing in Boy George yacht parties for example.

also you have hustlers who left the game and they have to talk about themselves to promote their book like Peter Shue for example. he is known but younger folks dont know him . some folks dont know kevin childs untill they saw him on vladtv and he has a book to promote include his brand.

on a side note: one thing for certain, you will have rap fans give street legendary status to many "gang members or gang affiliate members" especially this generation for some reason maybe cause of how they promote themselves and that pseudo belivability or the bar is raised lower as to what is considered "legend". just being a gang member don't mean your gangster or a legend.
