Breh, most of the stories that Joe has told...have been verified by other people who were around in that era too.

Supreme
Alpo
Rayful Edmond
Wayne Perry
Freeway Ricky
Larry Hoover
etc...

How many of these guys are rappers?

Joe might have been tough and Jay might have sold drugs but if they weren't entertainers with a platform you're telling me you'd know who they were? You'd know their names like the ones I listed? That's the difference.

There were a ton of tough guys in the 80's but the guy who they feared was a legend. There were a ton of drug dealers in the 80's but the guys raking in millions were legends.

People write books, articles, documentaries, and movies about legends because they did something extraordinary. People aren't bringing up Joe unless they're asked about him.

He's not a street legend. If he wasn't rapping you wouldn't know who he was. The guys who are legendary have names solely based on what they did in the streets.

What math are we doing?

Y'all acting like Terror Squad was the Supreme Team:beli:

Terror Squad wasn't even the name of his crew before rap.

you based these rap beefs to determine Joe's personal street life?
i dont know about the helping mack 10 situaition or the cuban link beef , 50 cent, not sure if jay had beef with joe. or whatever rap beef however joe was in the trenches and did get his respect .its not like joe was super lyrical and was taken in by the rap community . he hustled his money up and had affiliations with dudes who he aligned with
joe never acted or claimed to be this super man gangster walking away untouched from the streets.. he spoke candidly on his losses and wins in the game .

the only issues post street wise that was serious was the typical internal music beef with folks in his camp the same way other "star" artists that have their own label and you have disgruntled artists and folks want that shine and money right or wrong like most rappers deal with when they have their own label

You're conflating the two.

Stories of street life in the crack era of NYC, sound like far fetched kingpin tales to people who don't know much about the 80's.... and selling dope aint the end all of street life.

But to say a dude who was a well known tagger, apart of a legendary NYC rap group...and then went on to have solo success aint a legend?
