It's partly because every song right now about tryna be hardest or and flexing bravado. Nearly every single one.
Even when making "emotional" music cats try to act hard indirectly talking about their opps or getting shot, shooting back, etc.
Music today tries to resonate with people's
need for attention. It's like when kids do bad things to get adults' attention.
Additionally, the new generation have completely shamed SINGING and DANCING.
Like what you expect?
People got so mad they couldn't do it, so they asked people to lame it up and water it down to make it more accessible/easier to do.
Now they're complaining?
Folks need to go back to singing and dancing their asses off. fukk what everyone thinks if they can't do it.
Let your TALENT SHINE if you got it.
Additionally, this:
I hate how they got Normani on the thumbnail though, she's
far from the worst. I'd say Fifth Harmony 10 years ago had a 2000's throwback feel to them.
I've been personally listening to a lot of 60's lately, not even just soul music but the Black pop singers back then were something else.
That is 100% live, dry vocals with no extra effects on the mic:
She literally sounds just like her studio recording of that song.
People made fun of Chris Brown and Omarion for being dancers and for dancing.
When I see black kids make fun of that shyt, I just think "Yup, they've nearly accomplished their mission with their shaming."
That's where we are.
