All those instruments being played by humans each with their own character touch and timing. Can't replicate that with software no matter how great it is. Yes the soul less present.

when he offed himself and then got exposed prince found all the sheet music :mjlol:

Music was soulful when it came from a place of pain or calling for a revolution. Ppl aren’t fighting the establishment any more, we’re mostly fighting other ppl in support of some section of the establishment. Who would have known that if the government created such polar opposite parties that we’d feel obligated to choose sides and become fanatics :francis:

Plants have existed since the 60’s. Many of the best groups were terrible live because the album consisted of studio musicians

Black music peaked around the late 70s/Early 80s era. Don’t get me wrong, my favorite era is 90s R&B, but objectively speaking, the former era was where you truly had to hone your craft.

Once studio “magic” came into the mix, that’s when less talented artists became “pop stars”. More emphasis on the product than actually creating an artist.

I've always thought the same thing too.

These soul groups from the 70s were pretty much the last stage for choir boys and band blerds. Get a church breh that can sang, get some dudes that were nice on the saxophones/trumpets/trombone/drums/guitar/bass and get some money. You had to be a real composer to get them to drop an album.

Sample machines and synthesizers have put the music business on the race to the bottom to what we have now.

It's partly because every song right now about tryna be hardest or and flexing bravado. Nearly every single one.
Even when making "emotional" music cats try to act hard indirectly talking about their opps or getting shot, shooting back, etc.
Music today tries to resonate with people's need for attention. It's like when kids do bad things to get adults' attention.

Additionally, the new generation have completely shamed SINGING and DANCING.
Like what you expect?

People got so mad they couldn't do it, so they asked people to lame it up and water it down to make it more accessible/easier to do.
Now they're complaining?

Folks need to go back to singing and dancing their asses off. fukk what everyone thinks if they can't do it.
Let your TALENT SHINE if you got it.

Additionally, this:

I hate how they got Normani on the thumbnail though, she's far from the worst. I'd say Fifth Harmony 10 years ago had a 2000's throwback feel to them.

I've been personally listening to a lot of 60's lately, not even just soul music but the Black pop singers back then were something else.
That is 100% live, dry vocals with no extra effects on the mic:

She literally sounds just like her studio recording of that song.

People made fun of Chris Brown and Omarion for being dancers and for dancing.

When I see black kids make fun of that shyt, I just think "Yup, they've nearly accomplished their mission with their shaming."

That's where we are. :camby: :camby:

Your parents generation would call our music trash compared to theirs. This is how it is every era. Current music is not soulless. It’s just different from the shyt you grew up on. Mothafukkas just get old, out of touch, and refuse to acknowledge any type of positive shyt they enjoy, and focus on what they don’t like. Seem like nikkas get old and just be bitter for sport. Music not soulless; yall nikkas lifeless

But I'm a millennial listening to music in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, eras I wasn't living through. And it's not like my grandparents raised me, so all I have to go by is late 80s music at best. The music I was really raised on was 2000 - 2015, e.a. the music thats basically today. Wayne, Boosie, Cheif Keef, drake, Kendrick

I'm not dissing new music, everything has its place, but shyt just ain't like it was back in the 60s-80s. It don't sound the same. Where is the piano, guitar, Trumpet, Saxophone, and drums?

These MFers are reviewing albums in their black out shaded apartments with AirPods on.

Haven't left home since they WFH; live alone; and everything is delivered to their front door.

Don't go out to eat, hit cubs, bars, any of that.

I aint suprised they can't feel shyt.

But the music today is my era.

No musical instruments
The same beats
violence and thotery
People don't even dance in clubs anymore

I hate these takes.

Get off this website and whatever terrible algorithm you're trapped in.

You guys just want to hate and chose to consume the bullshyt yall claim 2 hate.

There's a lot of close minded echo chambers on here.

It's like hanging out in bars 7 days a week and saying "Man everybody an alcoholic; all people do is get drunk these days :dahell:"

There is so much dope shyt happening right now musically from EVERY single genre.

Technology has made it even easier to access it and even be a part of it.

Back in the day we were subjected to mainstream radio and MTV. It was 1000x more limited.

People from small cities or the country who didn't have music scenes literally thats all that they had.

They didn't have clubs like that or could even be exposed or ever hear different sounds.

I feel bad for all the raw talent out here thats doing this full time and has to hear these takes all the time.

I gave you 1 example. I've made music threads. Its usually crickets besides the usual suspects who I appreciate.

Yall cant wait to jump in a sexy redd or ice spice thread tho :mjlol:
