Man I cannot BELIEVE that the Dodgers, the Pirates, the Braves, the Cardinals AND the Brewers ALL LOST yesterday. Amazing, it’s almost like the Baseball Gods are pulling out all the stops with this one.
Some posters have been calling the Phillies bullpen trash and while they were trash for the first 3/4 of a season they have been doing very good over the last month. Due mainly to b*stardo becoming unhittable again like he was for the majority of last season (His K/9 since the beginning of August is around 18).
Basely, I agree with your post. However, b*stardo is WILDLY inconsistent. He WAS, at one point, the set-up guy, had won the role outright and he had a great year last season. But I think teams have figured him out, his inconsistency is what has kept him on the bench. Personally, I thought they should have traded him at the deadline…..
Edit: And players like Aumont are why you don't sign relievers to 50$ million contracts
…now this is true. Glad they never made him part of any of those past trades. Plus, that fool is, like, almost seven feet tall ‘n shyt.
World Series Titles since 2003 (Cliff Lee's official rookie season)
Yankees - 1
Phillies - 1
Rangers - 0
I’m one of the most objective Phillies fans on here….and even if we make the postseason, I think it’s going to be difficult to go that far in it. Again….with this current 7-game win streak, and a 4-game stand against the lowly Astros, AND a 3-game stand left against the Braves, it’s entirely possible for them to make that wildcard. HOWEVER…and I’ll say this again….that bullpen IS still trash. Lindblom is the worst fukking acquisition EVER. That fakkit came into the game on Tuesday up FIVE fukking runs and promptly gave up three.
Not to mention, I think all those years of highly-emotional close games and deep innings is finally taking its toll on Doc. Him AND Cliff Lee will both pitch excellent games through about five innings, and then get to the sixth and just fall apart. All that pressure from the previous seasons – having to maintain 1 or 2-run leads because the offense was shytty – is finally catching up to them. Mebbe Cliff less so, he seems more comfortable out there now that he doesn’t have to carry the load. But Doc?
The reality is, we need to sweep the Astros before people start REALLY taking this run seriously.
