Way too early to say the window's closed on the Phillies.

They have been ravaged by injuries this season and are still relatively close in the Wild Card race (only 9 GB).

Uh... :comeon:

9 GB is close? Okay, being a Braves fan, I know what blowing a huge WC lead is all about... but this isn't the NL East of the late 2000s. The Nats, who everyone thought would fall off by now, are still dominating good teams in July. The Mets are still winning series in the NL East. The Marlins are not pushovers and the Braves are one good SP trade and a Uggla/McCann upswing away from being right back in it. There is no clear cut way for the Phillies to hop right back in... They couldn't even win a series against the Mets with Hamels AND Lee dealing...

Having Chase hasn't changed things. Howard may help them win 3 or 4 more games over the course of this season. But this isn't like the Cardinals last year who took advantage of a weak NL Central and the Braves falling apart totally. There is no easy way to cut the division lead or the WC lead.

Just being real. If the Phillies don't make the playoffs this season and Hamels is gone... it's over for their run for a while.

And FYI, no team that has reached halfway at 36-45 or worse has made the playoffs in the past 17 years. Not one.

So 9 games before the All-Star break is an insurmountable margin now? :beli:

Saying he's been a top-10 SS in the past 4 years isn't a tribute to him, but shows how weak the SS position is now.

Well, since he's actually playing now, I guess this point doesn't mean a fukking thing.

Don't remind me... it was not pretty. And you're a Giants fan, right? If so...

Posey was out. And that's all I have to say about that. (And  at Timmy these days...)

No... but it's nowhere near close. There are 4 teams right now that have a better shot at it then your team does. And none of them are pushovers.

when the only teams in the national league that have worse odds at making the playoffs are the rockies, cubs, astros and padres you are nowhere near close to the postseason

they have some slop, led by Blanton, coming off the books but im not sure that wouldnt just be tied up in a Hamels re-up. they need a multitude of relievers that might eat up 10M in itself

there is no advanced stat that makes Jimmy Rollins look good, hes has not been a 10M player since 07 at best. thats on Amaro too, no one offered his ass more than 2 @ 16 from what i understood, yet here is 3 @ 33. not wise
