You can build through the draft while incorporating analytics....most teams in the league use them anyways

seriously. why do people act like you cant both scout on the court, and then crunch even farther using quant/data guys and having them break down player/lineup efficiencies etc to see what they can uncover? why wouldnt you want your team to incorporate everything they can when constructing a team and formulating game plans?

Like Hollins said, there is place for analytics, what happens is when the statistician/front office people go outside their duties and then infringe in the coach's realm. Yo crunch numbers, let me coach.

Hollinger out there telling Daye, he needs to set his feet like this or go around screens like that :rudy::rudy: Whoa is me when he gets a head coaching postion :leon:

He actually jumped at the player to scare him as Hollins said in the interview himself..that was posted yesterday. But that doesnt sound good for the Hollinger taking over the team narrative

Role players play a motherfukking role, who cares what the name is. Its a skill set thats important.

So we should only play superstars and hall of famers to get to the western conference finals i guess

You can't win with a role player at SG and SF.

Name me one team that's done it. Maybe the 94 Rockets...but Vernon Maxwell was hardly a role player and Horry wasn't either.

I agree that PER has its place, like you can tell JR SMith is someone you do not want on your squad, however there are so many variables that take place in a basketball game to rely on statistics. Does PER take into account flabby n sick, heart, flopping, contract year etc etc ?

Hollins shoulda smack Hollingers kufi off

It doesn't even really take into account defense that much.

PER also completely favors big men.

You dont need analytics to tell you without a top player you cant win a title

How do you identify a top player? The eye test only goes so far.

Every stat is flawed, but advanced stats are really just trying to reflect what you're seeing or looking for something you might not be seeing.

and PER is crucial towards getting cheap surrounding parts. Norris Cole is a byproduct of PER. Kenneth Faried is a byproduct of PER. Austin Rivers was a PER casualty. The analytics aren't way off, though PER can make Carl Landry >>>> Kobe

I dont think the grizzlies or any team without a star will EVER win another championship. I was speaking specifically about the way the Spurs played the Griz. In the first two rounds both teams foolishly elected to play behind and never doubled the post. Pop wasnt gonna go for that, he lost the same way two years ago. So that is the point where a role specific player comes into play. The minutes they were on the court together they played well and even got them to overtime that game. But to start out overtime he went back with the starters both times. Both ended up non competitive in only 5 minutes

Pondexter and Bayless are the lineups that would spread the floor with their ability to shoot from the outside. It was useless to even dump the ball into zbo when Leonard was standing with a foot in the paint ignoring Prince.

:tellmemore: Those guys played minutes and they still lost. hell, Hollins almost had to :fight: Bayless. Who was missing rotations. I don't like it how most Black coaches are considered Horrible or bad. Almost like the NFL with black GM's or coaches :mjpls:
