Ye probably asked jay to look over the contract to see if he’s getting screwed..

Ye: did you check out that contract big bro?

Jay: yea. I could only skim through it but it looked good

Why would he ask jay to over look the contract when dame signed him

“Me and dame close because we both a$$holes”

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
I deal with this sort of nonsense in Non Solicitation agreements every time I switch jobs (Tech Sales).

These companies write these crazy overly broad agreements which basically try to tell me that I cant perform a similar service, anywhere in the world, for at least one year with any company of any size if it somehow touches what 'they' deem the 'same industry'.

They basically to to get you to sign up to flip burgers for at least a year if you ever decide to leave them. Ive seen dudes sued over this shyt and get judgments against them that ruined their lives....and this is for some jobs you might only make $40k base salary, lmao.

This one company I worked at sued this dude that left and went to a competitor, and he was like 28 and just recently married, making maybe $55k a year.....and they got a judgment against him where he had his fukking waged garnished to the tune of $200 a month for 20 years!!!!! for 'damages' to the companies 'Intellectual property'.

shyt like this is why I scoff at the idea of 'trickle down economics'. Its never in a big ass companies best interest to 'create jobs', its to make and protect earnings at all costs.

These musicians are trying like hell to get put on and these company's take advantage of them any chance they get.

This could be the reason why Eminem and Kanye are always mean mugging.

Until he fulfills his obligation to them

Or in other words...until they want him to stop:yeshrug:

Nah "The Term" is defined in the contract (hence the capitalization). The issue is that The Term is either ambiguous and/or it's virtually impossible to fulfill the Term based on the metrics. Either way, his lawyer should have caught that, unless his lawyer was also working for the record label in a clear conflict of interest lol. There is no way I am selling Kanye his publishing back for 5 mil though. They just threw that number out to him thinking he didn't have the cash. Then he produces the cash and they fronted. Cold game.

no one can figure out how long the contract is for and what "the term" is . he signed this 16 years ago. who has a contract that long? especially when its signed as a budding, unproven artist who up until that point had mostly done beats & hooks.

i could see him battling over publishing rights , but this talk about him blindly signing an ambiguous contract mandating him to work for EMI forever (sorry, not counting reasonable vacation times) ...for the rest of his life...is bullshyt

Remember the Lox's Bad Boy deal? They were trapped because of how the contract defined what an "album" was. I forget the details but I believe only their personal contribution to the songs counted. So a ten song album only counted as a fraction of an album or some crazy shyt so they would have had to make 20 albums to fulfill at 3 album deal. Don't quote me on any of this but it was something crazy like that.

If Ye was from the Bay this would have never happened because he would have been independent his whole career. :troll:But then he would have never been a household name and you would just hear every mainstream producer jacking his production style. :troll: Sell your soul for mainstream cac acceptance brehs? :why:More cacs, Asians and Indians wear Yeezys than anyone else. :beli:
