the term was for 3 "contract years" plus one optional contract year.
a "contract year" was 12 months or however long it took him to make 3 songs on a major label album. they would split the song up according to his portion of creating the song. so if he only wrote half the song, that would be the half that count toward his 3 song requirement.
im not sure why he is still in the contract, but i might keep reading the complaint to see. its long af

what if he still in the contract after 15 years because can't meet the 3 song per year requirement with all the writers and samples he uses :gladbron:

That would be absurd. Even with all the samples and writers he has enough albums and singles to cover this “3 song” count.

yeah i'm just joking. the complaint says the parties extended the contract several times and that he still owes them songs under one of the contract periods :yeshrug:

if i understand correct, at some point they changed the requirements to 6 songs per year which had to be on his album or an album by an artist who previously had a gold album. maybe the lack of gold albums recently had something to do with him meeting that every year.

no wonder he has breakdowns. thats some pressure to produce hits. on the other hand....he kept agreeing to extensions lol

Sounds either illegal or fake since it is so vauge that you can interpret retirement and break in virtually any way imo.

One of the people responsible for the contract is Jon Platt a black man

What fukked up about these contracts is if the studio gets tired of Kanye and wants to release him, they can breach the contract before it's fulfilled but he cant leave before he''s fulfilled his contractual terms.

That’s wild. Never heard of a contract with such crazy stipulations. And this is before the mircowave popcorn era we in now with streams. You would think after the continued success he would be able to better leverage something. But then if they kept changing the terms every time he surpassed his expectations.....
