Yo what the fukk kind of contract is this? This shyt sounds worse than just about anything I’ve ever heard. He literyhas a slave deal for life for his publishing. All this time I thought he was getting paid for his songs in commercials and movies and he wasn’t getting a dime.
Typical Ye though talk all that shyt about Jobs and famous designers and don’t even have your own paperwork together.

nah homie...

you getting it twisted and confused

YE BEEN GETTING MONEY from this deal ....

he is getting performance royalties

and he is getting songwriting royalties and producer credits on all these tracks in this deal with EMI

Ye just feels the contract has been OVEREXTENDED....it was suppose to end after 7 years..but with these ambigious extensions and clauses...

its gone way past that...

he wants that to end as well as being able to FULL SOVERIGNTY over the bulk of his catalog particularly the works after 2010 when the deal was suppose to end.

Ye is tired of the "splits" with the publisher...that's alot of EXTRA REVENUE he is missing out on especially in this global streaming age...

Most of your favorite rappers are in deals like this. Jay-z may appear like a boss but his masters are live nation which is own by Ticketmaster. Wayne and Baby are slaves to Universal. Diddy a slave to Epic/Sony. Master P was trying to get capital to make a black own distribution chain for artist so they wouldn’t be slaves but y’all laughed at him.

This is modern slavery. It's too bad he pissed away any shred of dignity by c00ning so hard because he needs support right now. Especially from Jay/Puff etc.

no one can figure out how long the contract is for and what "the term" is . he signed this 16 years ago. who has a contract that long? especially when its signed as a budding, unproven artist who up until that point had mostly done beats & hooks.

i could see him battling over publishing rights , but this talk about him blindly signing an ambiguous contract mandating him to work for EMI forever (sorry, not counting reasonable vacation times) ...for the rest of his life...is bullshyt

the term was for 3 "contract years" plus one optional contract year.
a "contract year" was 12 months or however long it took him to make 3 songs on a major label album. they would split the song up according to his portion of creating the song. so if he only wrote half the song, that would be the half that count toward his 3 song requirement.
im not sure why he is still in the contract, but i might keep reading the complaint to see. its long af

what if he still in the contract after 15 years because can't meet the 3 song per year requirement with all the writers and samples he uses :gladbron:
