:troll: :scheme: Interscope didn't put enough money, in the Section.80 budget, to clear the sample?

I thought this was a mixtape track. You can't sue a nikka for something he ain't profiting from.
Ppl say that as if these rappers aren't touring and performing these tracks.

Plus, they "profit" by building their fanbase and careers from these "mixtape" tracks.

Thing is; these artist they sample prolly don't think it's worth the time and money suing a broke rapper for jacking their joint on their lil mixtape.

Plus, Section.80 is on iTunes (I bought it)

The sampling laws are ridiculous. This cat is trying to say he stole the whole song, in reality its a very short horn loop that was used and its totally dismissive of the production work and rapping.

They deserve some money, obviously and it should have been cleared in the first place given the buzz Kendrick had at the time, but they don't deserve all the publishing.
You and the ppl who dapped you probably think Kanye's a better producer than Quincy Jones?

TDE producers don't even try to flip stuff when they're sampling though so I'm not even surprised that this happened :heh:

I totally understand from a producers standpoint why they would hate a website like WhoSampled because public crate digging literally opens the floodgates for lawsuits.

They gon get paid. They won't get as much as they are demanding but they will get paid. It is possible they will get 100% publishing on the track, which I personally think is bullshyt even in regards to sample laws, but it is possible. The law is basically there to prevent someone from selling another artists work as their own. It doesn't take into account the amount of work a vocalist contributes to the song or how creative/non-creative the sample is flipped.

Section 80 was sold on iTunes I bought it on there back then.

On the iTunes version they changed the beat/singing on "Chapter Six" because it sampled King's "Hey"..they left this track the same though so the label gonna have to drop some guap.

the OG artists deserve something 99% of the time but there should be a limit on how long you can wait or how much you can get if the sample is on an album/mixtape like Section80 is. i thought it was a free download with some hard copies available to buy but i don't think it sold that much anyway mostly it was free downloads.
