True. Even if he has a fly ass line, is it going to be on the runways of Paris and Milan. That is where he wants the acceptance. Dude is obsessed with European fashion. He needs to focus on the US, get some talented designers and focus on trying to get his line in Macy's and high end boutiques here, then work his way to the big dogs in Europe. If they don't want him, he should just keep it movin.
yeah, ecko gave me a whole new perspective on this shyt I hadn't really taken into consideration. it is hard to break in that circle, but to the guy whose tryna break boundaries with his music, the only excuse for him wanting in on them runways with the backing is acceptance into those circles. he has a big enough name and respect to start his own shyt and build rather than run to fendi and continuously get shot down. it COULD happen, but from his show of frustration, he might need a plan b because it seems like theyre not opening them doors anytime soon.

Corrupt leaders are a large part of why Africa remain poor, and poor decisions are a large part of why the hood remains fukked up

To deny these things are to be dishonest

I will deny these things, thats more bullshyt pushed by the white washed media. COLONIALISM AND IMPERIALISM is the ONLY reason Africa remains poor, this the shyt they wont teach you in school.

Poor decisions? yeah like the CIAs decision to flood the hood with drugs to fund the contras, thats word to Gary Webb who died for disclosing that information. When the hood starts producing their own guns, we can say that was a poor decision on their behalf.

I'm not trying to psychoanalyze you at all. That's just how your posts are coming across. It sounds defeatist. So what if corporate America is racist. Not exactly ground breaking development there. What can YOU do to surpass that? Because there are and will continue to be blacks in their world who achieve. The only people holding us back is ourselves. Peace.

stop with this bullshyt notion created by the white man. We know the system isn't designed for us, they don't want black people to succeed. As individuals yes.... as a collective... NO

Slavery never ended, the slave masters just got smarter.

And no I'm not somebody doing nothing with their life, since thats how anyone speaking on collusion comes across to you.

Marc Jacobs did not have $100M when he started his fashion line. And investors don't give a fukk about the race of whoever is at the head of the company. They want good returns on their investment and a sustainable business plan. Kanye probably hasn't even reached out to investors, let alone put together some kind of business plan for his own business, because he wants to be Versace's house nikka instead of having full creative and financial control

U are just blindly cosigning because he is rich and black, and thus from that he is always right and anyone who questions him is wrong. But he needs to learn how to play the game. It's not hard when you have $100M

bruh, you really think he's got 100M lolololololoolololololololololol you think jay z owns the nets too:comeon:

These rappers tell ducktales, just like jay/dame got raped for the rocawear deal he gonna get raped too.

Honestly, fukk a collective, fukk the white man, fukk all that shyt. All im saying is stop worrying about what the fukk they doing and what they gonna try and do to stop you. I never once said you weren't doing shyt...I really don't care about your life honestly....so miss me with that how it comes across to me shyt. Do what you want, without trying to dissuade yourself thinking about the barriers society has placed upon you. Kanye needs to follow that, it only helps he has the capital to get shyt started. If every black person did that, we'd be better as a people right now. That's it. If you dont agree that's fine. I respect your opinion, just don't agree with it.

The fashion business is like the music business, you just dont get "in" I know so many people who went to design school who have been trying to break in for years of all races and they all have more knowledge and talent than Kanye ,

Kanye is not interested in being a designer he is just interested in the accolades ......he is not interested in the art which is why he has no business in being in that business

its like a dude saying he wants to be a rapper and tries to sign with Def Jam ,Cash money or some other major and gets rejected, if he really wanted to be a rapper he would say fukk the majors if they dont want me, Ill put out a mixtape or release my own records independently....

If Kanye wants to be a designer he could still say fukk the industry and design his own clothes, based off his name alone he would still make a lot of money.... the fact that dude hasnt done that tells me hes not interested in fashion for love of the art form for want of a better word ......

If he was really as smart as he thinks he is instead of as usual throwing his toys out of the pram because he didnt get his own way he should look at how Victoria Beckham built her brand

well idk fam, how can someone with 100 mil be publicly pleaing for someone to fund his business

and fyi a black mans success doesn't involve exploiting other black people, that aint success. That's 'working for them'

the talent thing is subjective, especially since I don't know your friends and haven't seen their work, or much of his for that matter. people work toward something for years on end and someone else comes along and is more successful because people resonate w/ their talent, vision and product better...but as ecko put it, the contradictory shyt is hard to deal with sometimes w/ kanye, because you love him for it at times and :patrice: at other times. I know there is a double standard in the fashion industry on the higher end, especially, but it seems like he's so enamored with being on that end he's kinda shoving the end where everyday people shop aside. if that's all he's going for, no problem. that's his right and he's got to figure that out because it doenst look likely, but now im thinking back to his zane interview where he said he wanted to design hs bball unis and build this trillion dollar company. you don't do that w/o reaching down to the everyday consumer to fill your basket on the regular and maintain your baseline. he wants it all, which again is his right, but he's got to get his vision and story straight.

I was thinking about this. it may sound funny, but can he draw? can he work a sewing machine? or is he just hoping to get by with 'ideas'?

just like the music, you can't come up with an ill beat just from an 'idea'. you have to sit down at the machine and make it happen

Marc Jacobs worked retail at a high fashion shop and then started his own brand out of college

I'm sure there are others who bypassed high fashion houses, especially Americans. Kanye is at a disadvantage not being French/Italian, not being black :comeon:

But he is at an advantage in being a multi millionaire. He can hire the best designers and factories to make his shyt out of pocket. If he really believed in his shyt he would, but he doesn't, he needs a white fashion entity to validate him

HE was the president of President of Perry Ellis in his 20s and the Creative Director of LV.
