The butter salt the theaters use

Me and my daughter eat popcorn at home all the time because of this
I gotta admit, the salt in that theater popcorn be leaving my lips burning, and you need the drink to cool your lips. At AMC, when I'd ask for fresh popcorn without butter and salt, they'd get an attitude half the time. This wasn't a problem with theaters back in the day. In fact, it was to be expected, especially from people in my age group. Guess they will continue to learn the hard way. And they wonder why the crowds shrunk 90 percent. The last time I went, I got the movie nachos for the first time, like half the people do, along with a large drink. I would make this my new go-to combination for now on, but the nachos don't get me as full as the large popcorn...that, or they don't last as long. If they gave us a full refill of nachos, then it would be a clear winner. But since the movies gotten so dull lately, I haven't been back to decide. Tbh, I don't miss that salty popcorn burning my lips. They probably make their popcorn salty on purpose so people don't get refills...something I only did once or twice.

Few points:

-Movie theaters have closed within 3 miles of me, in last 8 years. There used to be three in walking distance, and now there are none. I am glad I took advantage of that and saw so many movies, because it's not the same.

-Previews should be no more than 3. And cut all the ads. They are gouging the capture audience, and it's disrespectful to people who paid to be there. They have been getting away with that for too long.

I agree with a lot of the points made. Movie theaters really did benefit from a lack of options for decades, before streaming. In the 90s, what else was there to do in the house on weekends except watch the same network marathon of 70s movies (Rocky, Star Wars, etc) with the occasional "network premiere" of some 90s blockbuster from 2-3 years prior.

Also, smartphones slowly but surely eroded the movie experience. Everyone be on their phones checking every notification, scrolling down their timeline, etc, and for the quieter non-blockbusters where ish ain't exploding everywhere it is distracting to constantly have phone lights in your periphery.

Granted, there was no feeling like watching X2 X-Men United, the Dark Knight, Inception, Black Panther, Infinity War, etc in a hyped theater. But i also had no greater frustration than watching Blade 2 in the theaters with two annoying ass kids a row or two behind me openly talking spoilers for the final 3rd of the movie no matter how vocally i tried to shush them.

With the home theater setup, it eliminates all guess work about the type of crowd i'll have to deal with, and even tho that means losing out on the hyped theater movies, if it's not a blockbuster then i wasn't really relying on that anyway.

The home theater setup is definitely eating into the movie experience. TV's keep getting better, sound systems are getting better. If you paid up years ago your shyt still be firing. My boy just re-did his basement got all new shyt in there. His setup is solid, he don't need to go see a movie at the theater unless he wants to. Take basically any Nolan movie when the home setup allows you to hear and see things on par if not better than you could at the theater why pay extra when you can get the experience at home.

The crowd definitely helps movies, but the way the Studios are running shyt into the ground that stuff is losing it's effect. Like you could hear a pin drop at the end of Infinity War. I remember how hype the crowd was during Endgame. Not even on that level, I remember being in the theater for Scream V, and just having a involved crowd made that movie feel better. Fast forward and when I saw Scream VI, my crowd was awful

this shyt happens

and I expected a reaction from the crowd and nothin.

Remember watching the most recent Batman movie and had a row of teenagers behind me a couple of rows, just doing anything but watching the movie. People off in front of me to the sides opening up their phones etc. It's like why are we here.

I know it’s been discussed before but today I looked at fandango local amc theaters. I don’t recognize one movie. All these movies are awful
This goes for Netflix too breh.

If I browse Netflix, I can look at a hundred movies and not recognize one star actor. Sh*t is a glorified YouTube channel.

When I want the home theater experience, I just put on my Sennheiser Headphones, although a little expensive. But they did come down in price. Anyway, it's still a good setup for a single cat. I can hear everything. I sometimes wear them when I watch tv period. I bought them a while back, because the big screen I had back then didn't have bluetooth. The only problem is, I haven't seen a movie that held my attention since "The Book of Clarence" :unimpressed:. So no real need in getting that Nostalgia Popcorn Maker Machine I always wanted. Probably wasn't healthy no way.

If you have to wear a light jacket, or even bring a small blanket, like I've seen some do in these AMC theaters, then they're keeping it way too cool in their auditoriums. I actually got congested a half hour into "American Fiction" one Wednesday night. These theaters are known to get a little too cool at some point in the movie, but this was the first time this ever happened to me, to the point I got sick on the spot. What made it so bad was, the movie was holding my attention. When I came back a week or two later, the temperature was more tolerable, plus I wasn't the only one in the auditorium this time. No wonder I don't see too many retirees, especially the elderly, going to theaters too much anymore. This use to be one of their favorable hobbies. You couldn't beat it. Now it's all messed up for them, and I know half of it has something to do with the temperatures being too cool. What are these people thinking. Do they not know they too will become the elderly one day...if they're lucky.

I also noticed that when AMC theaters show a movie that's more popular with Blacks, the temperature gets a little too cool after a while, or hit or miss, unless it's one of those Black movies that can draw Whites. But when it's one of those Marvel movies, etc..., the temperature seems to be more comfortable. The temperature seems to be more comfortable even when it's a White movie that don't attract large crowds.
I think it's because I generally keep my place on the cooler side, that is one of the aspects I enjoy about AMC. They definitely are the most fitting my temperature levels. I go to the Regal more, but I find their temperatures to be more hit or miss than AMC.
