Another thing is…it just doesn’t really make sense for the NBA to be shutting this down. Like yeah, I get it, you don’t want anyone potentially making money off your property.

But at the same time, this isn’t like a studio shutting down people posting their movie, where there’s so many legit options to watch them. For old games, where’s the alternative? If a 76ers fan said they wanted to go back and watch their 2001 playoff run, where can they go to watch it legally? Unless they recorded the shyt on VCR back in the day and still got the tapes/player, their only hope is that a unaffiliated 3rd party posted the vids online somewhere, because the NBA hasn’t made it available.

I swore I remember they used to show classic games from the 70s, 80s, And 90s on NBAtv (and ESPN too) like 13-15 years ago during the summer. I'm assuming they stopped that.
Yes, they did. Between NBA TV & ESPN Classic, you could always catch a game from 70s - 00s. It's been dead at least 15 yrs now

Man, this was my favorite thing to do during the pandemic. Smoke and watch classic NBA games.

Same.

Plus, I remember when I first moved out and I didn't have internet set up yet so I'd go to my folks crib and download a whole bunch of games and fights to upload to my PS3. That kept me preoccupied.

For my boxing fans, I'd suggest you get as many fights as you can because I wouldn't be surprised if fights get purged next.

pay like 15.99.. all games back log. full broadcast.

imagine a Netflix menu per team. > per year >

It actually makes business sense from the NBA’s perspective when I think about it. NBA will probably develop their own streaming service, which has already taken over TV anyway.

The days of free streams and full games on YouTube are over. Don’t hate the player hate the game. :manny:

If the WWE can do a proper streaming service, so can these sports leagues.

like I've said in this thread already, the rights to rebroadcasting these games is probably trickier than we know

no telling what agreements were had in contracts and who is in control of what when it comes to the footage

but it is a shame that the NBA used to really be the leader in the aspect of having the most active online video community and is now working overtime to shut it down...die and be the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain

so they deleting whole games but channels that have the individual player showcase for a game stays.
i dont watch complete games but I do watch those players highlighted games

anyway the nba can do a lot better with nbatv. when i had it man its so many games they can show thru their history but just decide not to on there
i always say the NFL network is great channel for folks that love the game
they show old games, NFL films docs, still have the studio shows. they have a day where a player takes over the channel and show stuff that their own big games, show love to folks they loved growing up or whatever

imagine the nba doing all that with Nbatv
