Entertainment does matter and the Hack-a-Shaq strategy derails great games while making them drag on as well. It's become an epidemic and I'd be surprised if this isn't the last year we see this.

So does fixing games, and calling fouls every time someone breathes on Harden/James/Durant etc. So does fixing the lottery, tanking purposely, having shytty Adidas jerseys, t'ing up someone who dunks and throws his hands up to celebrate, t'ing up someone who dunked too hard on the rim, t'ing up someone who gave the ball they dunked with to the other team, kicking people out the game for pushing another player etc.

whats gonna stop the team to foul jordan when he gets down in the block?

being 50-90 feet away I understand, but when he tries to get position?

the risk of a team shooting when they foul on purpose would stop them. these teams are fouling before they even get the rock over halfcourt, no risk. if a team wants to hack him when the offense is in motion, thats on them. risk getting a 3 thrown up and a 4 point play out of it

Then MAKE YOUR DAMN FREE THROWS

Sure.

But hugging a dude 80 feet from the basket is much more offensive to the sport than someone shooting 40% from the FT line.

I'm legitimately surprised to see anyone critical of this proposed rule change. It's not legal in high school or college ball, and there are FAR worse FT shooters at those levels.

Because it bails out guys who are awful foul shooters. If you're awful at this, then coaches should sit you late. Changing the rules so that bad free throw shooters are not a liability is just wrong.

do you then also want the ball to not be advanced to half court on a time out? Can't do that until 2 min left in the game as well
Sure why not, why make special rules for under 2 minute situations. Why are you allowed to play under certain rules for 46 minutes but then change it the last 2 minutes. It's unfair that bad free throw shooters are not punished during the most important time of a basketball game.
