I am an association's wet dream:

- I am a minimalist and get rid of things very quickly when not in use, so no clutter. But I currently live next to filthy sloppy people so we got roaches anyways that use our apartment as a thorough way occasionally to reach the next sloppy CAC that gives them food to eat. There is nothing more infuriating than having a sparkling clean home, traps set and still see small germans occasionally in the kitchen area and bathroom sometimes in the morning. If the place was a mess it'd be less obvious.

- My Woman and I are quiet in general and even bought a couch so when we get busy the neighbors downstairs don't get the bed rocking noise after 10pm.

- We never slam doors or let them slam shut at ANY time

- Rent is always paid every month

- No repair requests to the landlord/maintenance in the past year AT ALL, but then again the apts are in good shape

The only thing I need to work on is my credit and getting income up just a little.

try using boric acid in the corners and behind the appliances. that stuff is no joke,

I feel you breh. Out here in Fresh meadows, that's the only thing you're to them. They don't even care if you pay your rent on time. It's brutal man. I hope the best for you and your girl man.

I never really had any issues riding the train. This is probably because I tend to hop rather than pay the $2.50, even hopped the station at City Hall several times.:manny: I use to hop the buses too until the installation of cameras.:martin:
Those cameras don't have a live feed and they don't use them to go after fare beaters.. cops will only look at them if a index crime happens on the bus...

To be honest, I don't think there's much we can do, outside of maybe demanding more accountability to Albany than we currently do. The state legislature and/or the governor stiff us on a regular basis on a lot of things, but I don't think many people are aware of just how much power Albany wields over what happens in NYC.

With regard to infrastructure and maintenance, having a subway that's open 24/7 hinders infrastructure repairs/upgrades. You either have to spread the work out over a long period of time, or cause massive disruptions and get it done faster. And people aren't going to be happy either way. Look at the reaction to the announcement that the tunnels the L uses will need to be closed and repaired at some point. You'd think it was the end of the world. Though maybe the demographics of the eastern end of the L line have something to do with the reaction :mjpls:

I think we're also still facing the effects of the MTA's policy of deferred maintenance from a few decades ago. Long story short, back in the 1960s and 70s, the policy towards maintenance was if it still "worked" (rails, signals, subway cars, etc.), they didn't bother doing any maintenance on it.

Why? Why the hell would you put off necessary maintenance? :why: And remember, by the 60s and 70s, much of the subway system is between 40 - 70 years old (hell, some people still regularly ride lines that have been around since the 1800s, since before Brooklyn became a part of NYC :sas2:)

Why? To save money, of course :pachaha:

End result: Imagine you're a breh walking down Westchester Avenue in the late 70s/early 80s, minding your business

A 6 train passes by overhead and a piece of the damn elevated line fall to the street and damn near kills you :damn:

Track fires, signal issues, trains with busted doors/lighting, trains that had to be taken out of service all of the time, messed up rails, derailments :merchant:

The list of things that were wrong with the subway at that point could be a thread in itself because it's damn near comical how much was fukked up. It's a miracle the trains ran at all.

I'd bet a lot of maintenance being done today is still playing catch up to maintenance that should've been done 40 years ago. And it has to be done, else we slip back into the 70s and 80s era of the subway.

:what: it's like that everywhere in Manhattan. Nobody got time to pay 13 a hour for parking Nikka. It's like downtown Brooklyn as well. If you got that bread, good luck to you.
dont disrespect Bill Cosby face like that. 13 a hour? That's not even true. Stop spreading lies fam

Plus at night it's not even hard to find parking in most of manhattan.

I haven't had to take the train much the last couple of years since I go to Queens Coll., I either drive or take the bus (111, 113, 114 still a haven for fukkery). But Ima be going to grad school in the city next fall and I'm dreading taking the train everyday again :snoop:
If the LIRR ever did that shyt where they'd cut the prices for people traveling within the city limits, I'd probably hop on that in a heart beat since I'm a 10 minute walk from a station. It'd actually work better for me if they finish the East Side Access on time
The CBTC, my guess is that they're doing it first on lines that don't share tracks with other lines (L,7, G, the shuttles) for safety reasons

LIRR shuts down every once in a while but if you live near one of the bigger connecting stations then it's worth it. Because it will have more train times.

When I took LIRR from Bayside it was real smooth ride. Expensive of course but mostly never any delays.
