I live in a 4 bdr 2 bth house all alone and i feel it's barely enough space for me so I refuse to get a roommate unless i absolutely have to. I couldnt imagine living how my cousin who lives in Brooklyn (Canarcee) is living. Grown ass men living with a roommate (tho a relative) in a 1bdr basement apartment underneath a "brownstone" or whatever they call it. I been in there and their space is probably less than 600 sqft.
They basically have huge board and a china furniture that's basically a makeshift wall and it partitions the living-room to make space for dude's bed.
