A lot of people have a poor understanding of economics. They see numbers and think they know it all.
Honestly I’m not a big fan of articles posting numbers because most Americans don’t have economic intelligence to understand them.
The housing market needs to start releasing reports on the most “burdened” markets which would make more sense to mass of people.

The good thing about you is if you are a hard worker there is no limit to growth in NYC
For example this young lady is an undocumented immigrant who makes 340,000 dollars a year working for Goldman Sach at the age of 27
This lady can easily afford an apartment for 5,000 a month if she wanted to with over 21K a month for other spending.

However I dont necessarily disagree with your point other than the "hard work" bit....
And it does not change the fact that the rents in new york are absurd relative to value......that said there are fresh suckers born every day and nyc will continue to be the fresh hipster heaven that many of them want to live in.
But no place has better pizza or chinese food. You can get it at 3 am and see Mos Def do spoken word. No other place has what NYC got. So it's worth it.

Technically speaking rents are absurd relative to value in most large/important American cities.
Supply and Demand.
If someone is paying 3K a month in rent and they make over 200K that rent price is not “ABSURD”.
I’m assuming you would prefer that someone making 200K move into a cheap neighborhood and create gentrification there?

And this is coming from someone who lived in Miami for over 12 years and love South Florida to death. I graduated high school and went to college in Miami. I went to North Miami Beach at high and FIU and Miami Dade College when it was known as Miami Dade Community College. As a matter of fact when I was in the army reserves my reserve unit was the one right in the MDC North Campus parking lot in the corner. My mom still lives on 143rd St NorthEast and I was there this past weekend and the weekend before on South Beach so don't try to tell me about Miami in case that's what you were planning on doing
Miami's gay population is as relevant and outspoken and we'll represented as Atlanta's.

im paying 900, im considering saying fukk a house and just investing all my money. landlord has shown no interest in raising the rent on me, she's in another state
every condo i've looked at, even if i somehow bought the fukking thing in cash id STILL have to pay at least 500 a month for taxes and condo fees, which is the same services you "get" with a rent payment anyway
Can you explain how this works? Besides for property tax?!

If you hang around Miami Beach you cant deny the fakkitry that goes on there. Unless you got so used to it you're blinded/desensitized to it. Gay mofos openly flirt/whistle at straight dudes as if it's nothing on Collins and Ocean drive.This is shyt i've seen with my own eyes when i was a young lad cruising around soucthbeach, doggy. And from what i know from my latino friends in Miami, the ones in Hialeah are just as bold now.
So again, doggy , Atlanta may be in the limelight these days thus everything that happens in Atlanta gets broadcasted to the nth degree.
And yes I , as a transplant in Atlanta , feel like there are a lot of gays here. But let's not act like Miami is that far behind if not ahead. The thing that stands out about Atlanta is that the gays in the black community are in the spotlight whereas in MIami it's mostly whites and latino gays. Miami's black population, along with the black american, is made up of a large amount of black caribbeans (haitians, jamaicans, Trinis, etc). And those caribbean communities tend to be very homophobic so anyone who is gay in that community is less likely to put themselves out there like that .
I'm Haitian and i know how my people, for the most part, deal with gay people: Either you shut the fukk up or they kill you, period. Hell some might still kill you. My own mother once suggested that her friend who's gay son came out the closet kill her own son. Same with Jamaicans. Some would say i'm homophobic to some degree myself but other people's lifestyle is none of my business and i know to respect someone's life in dignity. I just dont fukk with 'em like that.

these condos around me all charge about 200/300 a month. the breakdown is usually the water bill, master insurance, and a little exterior maintenance. plus you're kicking into a reserve fund every month for shyt like a new roof
