Oh definitely! Her dad and I are real strict when it comes to her education. He's been talking about putting her into some kind of sport but...personality wise I just don't see her sticking with that for long. She's into the arts and sciences but they don't offer those kinda of programs for her age range regardless of her skill set *sigh*. I'll do my research and find out what the U.S. has have to offer. Hopefully i'll find something good! Thanks for the info btw it's greatly appreciated!

I didn't graduate super early because I was 15 and a punk. I finished my advanced diploma in the 10th grade. I got college credits and AP credits 11th grade. And my entire 12th grade year I got out at like 10am. I had one class distance learning class and homeroom and thats it. I graduated at 17 in the top 10 of my class, scored really high on the SAT and ACT. I got a full scholarship to one school and a partial scholarship to another. Turned them both down because they were too far form my boyfriend. Book smart is nothing without common sense. But my mom knew NOTHING about education. Stay on her. You learn so much better at a younger age so if she is ready for the next level let her have it. If they dont have something that will keep her brain stimulated she will suffer in other ways. She may act out or with draw or regress. I had MAJOR behavior problems because I was bored.

A sport could keep her "socialized" if she gets taken out of her class. They have a math and science center here. My lil geeky ass was a regular. They even have stuff for kiddies. Also I downloaded a crap load of stuff on my nieces ipad (she's a kindergarden geek too). I can PM you a list when I get a chance if you want. My teachers pushed me alot but I wouldve done SO much more if I had parents that expected more from me.

Look into the SEMAA program when you get a chance and when the government shut down is over. Morgan State offers it where I'm at and here is a description of the program for Morgan's website:

The NASA Science Engineering Mathematics and Aerospace Academy, or SEMAA, is a national innovative project designed to increase participation and retention of historically underrepresented K-12 youth in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM.

Because of the stupid shut down, I can't get any information from the NASA website.

I'm getting my daughter an iPad mini for Christmas and I was going to go to the apple store and ask if they could load a bunch of educational apps on it for me if I paid them. I'd really like the ones some schools are using that come pre-loaded. If you could drop me the list of apps, I'd appreciate it.

I'd really like to try and move towards homeschool but as a supplement to her traditional schooling using the SETCLAE curriculum which is supposedly geared towards African American students. The curriculum itself is expensive but I figure if I can introduce aspects of it before I purchase any of the material. My daughter loves to learn and loves to "play" school so I think in 2014 I'm going to focus on making our "play school" at home more beneficial. I don't think I have the mannerism to homeschool her exclusively, plus I have to work but I figure even part-time supplement is better than nothing.

You are not alone, I am here with you.

I use my phone but I always have a notebook and a pen with me. Having a physical agenda too helps me organize the shyt in my brain and keep on top of things since my memory is horrible.
