He won't ever come out and admit it, but a big part of his hangup with Haliburton is that he's a pass first PG. Fact remains that 15 assists isn’t as sexy as 35 points to most fans & media. Bean is my favorite athlete of all time but everyone won't control the game through their scoring prowess. Haliburton's gift is with his IQ & court vision.
It's more difficult to discuss how he controls a game being an actual pass first point guard in a league that prioritizes PPG or triple doubles as the metrics that quantify how effective you are at dominating, so he opts to downplay him and focus on what he doesn't do.
