I think dude did the right thing. He could have 'ran some game' and made her beg him, but from the get-go, she already sees him as a sucker by coming out asking for this 'fancy date.' Women that really like dudes have no such requirements. You can start off with a woman and spend a ton of time digging out of a hole or you can deal with a woman that starts you off on a mountaintop.
