it is corny. that is a very ugly sight. these movies got grown ass men thinking sh1t is cute to be getting on their knees asking a woman to marry them when it is ur life ur signing away, not hers cause in the event of a divorce, u get hurt the most.
it was a big ass elephant in the room and i dont even think it was barely mentioned int this 800 page thread. i think guys are ashamed to bring it up
Im willing to bet in patriarch countries how they do it. it should just be simple....you as the man say i think we should get married and build a family...the same way you do when you started dating her and showed her why you the real deal.

The practice was made up because it shows the man giving up to a woman. This in turn will cause chaos down the line and chaos=profit . That is why it is in the movies as propaganda.
My best advice in keeping and dealing with women is always consistency. Whatever you did to get her, keep doing it to keep her.

Put yourself in a girl's shoes, if they've never met you they don't know if you're a psychopath/rapist..... We don't have that mentality because we're the physically stronger gender.
Having pictures on social media with friends/family shows you're "normal"...... Goes a long way in making a girl safe, so she'll feel at ease in a one on one situation with you.

She came up a little different from me, I guess you could say more "privileged" but she's very down to earth and doesn't flaunt her upbringing. She's very cultured, well read, well traveled. I consider myself those things too but in things a little different from her. We have some interests that overlapped but others that didn't, and those things that made us different interested me.
She works full time, is in grad school, trains people for races, and has friends and family she's extremely close to. I guess I got nixed out the equation
