I think it's kind of a combination between both these answers. While I agree you should never change your fundamental being for the sake of attracting women alone, it is wise to take the time to understand women and how they think.
Women are attracted to a man who is confident, assertive, comfortable in his own skin, masculine, etc. But you don't become these things for women. You become these things for yourself and attracting women is side effect. These are traits that will help you in all phases of life. Not being afraid will help you advance in your career, could improve your social life, and get you to try things a less confident man may not try, thus making you more interesting through your experiences. Next thing you know, women are attracted to you.
So yeah, make yourself the best you, but not for women, do it for you. While it certainly doesn't hurt to understand what, exactly, attracts women, don't let that be your motivation. You should want that for yourself regardless.
If you build yourself, they will come.

That's ok if women don't try to understand men. It's also ok if men don't try to understand women. But understanding is always a virtue. Understanding will make you better prepared. That holds true for anything in life.
I also think there's a difference between creep and aggressive and it's not always just about if she likes you. If you do it right, she will give you signs (this is an area where understanding can come into play, understanding these signs) and if you're on top of your game there is no way you can come off like a creep. Why? Because first of all, you should not be thirsty. That's the #1 characteristic of a creep. Women can sense thirst. A creep will also put her on a pedestal instead of just talking to her like a regular human being. And if she's not feeling you, a creep will persist instead of playing it cool and casually stepping off. And lastly, the creep will place blame if he's rejected (she only likes thugs/white boys/ballers, etc) which may even cause him to lash out at her. Cat playing it cool is like whatever and it's not really rejection to him, it's nothing more than a simple convo that didn't lead anywhere. He keeps it moving while the creep dwells. So it's not just about appearance or approach, it's about a complete mindset that surrounds those things. Again, preparation. #1 problem dudes have trying to get women is not having their mind right.
