That's very easy to answer - they are just attention junkies and even if they may not be feeling you at a romantic level at that moment, they dig the attention and can't get enough of it.

It depends for me though. If I'm giving out details or telling a story I don't mind it. I feel like people get afraid that they're doing way more investing than the person they like is doing. as sad and childish as it is.
