Hotel industry and most industries are just never what they appear. That's something I learned about the way business works at those levels. All smoke and mirrors and leveraged debt.

The Pendry is the Montage's other brand, it's high end but not stuffy like the Montage. They developed them all over Southern California, and nationally. They did one on Sunset in LA, a 550 million project, on a perfect spot on Sunset Strip. I stayed there when it first opened for my birthday and it was pristine. Rooftop spot by Wolfgang Puck called Merois, it was wild. Like all new hotels on Sunset it has 20 Million residences on the top for celebrities with a separate entrance.

The project collapsed less than 3 years later. Another group took it over and changed the name but nothing else. How the fukk does that work? 550 million gone? There's no way a project like that shouldn't work on paper, great location, great spot, so if the fundamentals don't work than what kind of business is it?

Thats the thing, take multiple shots, big swings, some will hit, some wont.. Doubt it even phases him, with Liv, Komodo and Papi Steak (the epitome of selling the sizzle and not the steak) alone he is still good..

I have been reading Jon Haidt's older book The Coddling Of The American Mind and it was very very ahead of it's time. They saw all this coming from 2013/2014 on. The rise of therapy speak. The rise of safetyism. The rise of extreme viewpoints and lack of tolerance. They didn't know everything, but reading this book now, it was written in 2018, it spells out the future exactly.

Safetyism really got my attention, as to how a lot of these women (and young men) interact with the world.

i read that book. it was a bit disappointing in execution compared to the premise. lemme reread it

I am veering off topic here but I remember being a young kid, about 10-11 years old and my friends and I would wander the whole neighborhood, we had friends houses all over, if we weren't at this house, we were walking to the 7-11, or we were at another house, up the hill. No parents, no cell phones, none of that.

One of those days we were walking with a bunch of toys, toy guns that kind of shyt and a car pulls up to us. They ask for directions and then 4 teenage boys hit us with water guns, like soaking us, the old school super soakers. We ran to grab a bat or knifes or whatever we were all heated, but of course nothing happened. We got to the next house and started playing, or watched a movie, or went in the pool, played basketball. But we didn't tell our fukking parents. And we didn't base a whole section of our lives on it. "Oh I can't walk to school anymore, because they might get us with water guns Mom"

i remember during the summer of like 03 there was a major blackout in my city. and what did we all do? we just went outside and started playing basketball, soccer, riding bikes, walking around and all kinds of shyt.

i honestly dont know what people would do nowadays. i remember when the power/telecomm network went down a couple yrs ago the world kinda just stopped lol

We found a venue for 30k. Her mother paid the downpayment. Her uncle and father will give half. We're in pre-martial counseling with a pastor. He want's us to live apart until we get married or get married now and do official wedding later since we live together.

She just booked a wedding planner and used most of her savings on it.
