Too bad Sohh is dead. I had you quoted. :myman:

The question still stands, don't you think Kobe has already surpassed Jordan? Jordan only played in 6 finals, Kobe's played in 7!

Of course I do. Kobe surpassed Jordan when he dropped 56 on his head while Phil Jackson was furious on the sidelines.

points is the big one along with titles

people basically know two things about Jordan, he scored alot of points and won 6 titles

if Kobe passes him in points it'll be a BIG DEAL

only number bigger than that would be getting more than 6 titles

If Kobe gets 6 titles and passes Jordan all-time in scoring, he would bolster his claim as being the GOAT.

To be honest, Jordan is called the GOAT because he's the leading scorer PER GAME (only relevant measure) was a strong help defender, good one on one defender, had incredible athleticism and basketball IQ.

Funny story, KAREEM has more points than Jordan. MOst people still say Jordan > Kareem.

smh

you would think what Kobe did post-Shaq would've had nikkas reconsider their ignorant positions

A.I. was NEVER better than Kobe. Even as a 18 year old rookie, Kobe was better. Kobe was held back INDIVIDUALLY because Shaq was so dominant. Put Kobe on a garbage team like the Sixers and he woulda raped the league as well.

No disprespect to AI cause he was one of my favorite players when he played but Kobe was better than him at every aspect of basketball. AI was just quicker. Kobe was taller, stronger, better fundamentals, better shooter, defender, playmaker, etc.

This is a top 5-10 player all-time that you are comparing to a dude whose lucky to be in the top 50 all-time.

A.I. was considered better "during.that.time." Calling.me ignorant for not buying your revised version of history is pretty meaningless. Being captain obvious about their differences after the fact even moreso

Jordan and the wizards got even though when Agent Zero dropped 60 on Kobe at Staples, won the game too. KObe struggled so badly at defending Gilbert that game that he pretended like he was guarding somebody else.

It's all besides the point. YOu already stated Jordan > Kobe last year, and Kobe sucks this year so that can't have changed.

But we can both agree that Lebron > Jordan, correct?

Do you remember 2001, man? I keep forgetting most of you cats were like 10 back then. Kobe Bryant was not the leader of the Lakers and wasn't outplaying Iverson. He became very consistent in scoring and him and Shaq made up 60% of the offense game to game and it was always about "who was that third guy gonna be tonight" that stepped up. And Bryant was a role player when Shaq was in the game...he took alot of wild shots. Some dropped..some were str8 up fukk ups. Made games harder..when they dished to Shaq, games went by easier and were near blow outs.

Assumptions will make you look stupid. I was in college in 2001. You are the one that has clearly forgotten how the Lakers played during the playoffs at that time. Either that, or you have too much hate for somebody you have never met to realize how crazy you sound. So now when Kobe went off against the Spurs in the West Finals, and they obliterated them, Kobe somehow made the Lakers worse and had to work harder to win? This is why when these haters call a Kibe fan delusional they end up looking worse themselves. So now if you aren't the sole dominant player on a team you're a role player? You can drop 29,7,7 and be a role player? This is the stupid shyt y'all say to try to diminish Kobe's accomplishments? This is stupid, I'm done.

The Playoffs? Oh I remember the 2001/02 Playoffs like it was yesterday...they DESTROYED the west. Didn't lose one game. Was so dominant you could of put that team against any Jordan Bulls team ever and it would of been one for the ages. Kobe got his points in..he was the second offensive lead but the plant was usually formatted to go through Shaq. EVERYONE fukking knows this. What's the matter with you? When Kobe went against that fray, it made games harder. They were in synch in 2001 and went buck wild anyway. They murdered the West and lost that Game 1 to everyone's shock when Iverson BEASTED but after that, it was a Shaq ass whooping party. Nygga just destroyed the 76ers. MURDERED them.

As with most things a variety of factors were at play here. The Celtics D with Thibs coaching and Tony Allen and Posey was one of the best we've seen. They were certainly making things hard on him and I'm not gonna say he quit but was 3 20+ foot jumpers and 1 16 footer really the best Kobe could do in a quarter especially a quarter with his season on the line? It's not like he caught shyt about it either. Only a select few say that he quit. It's not like it was the predominant narrative coming out of that series or in the years since.

he had a few shots around the basket that 3rd quarter. That Celtics defense was a different animal, especially when KG still had some lift. Why not give the Celtics credit, instead of taking away from Kobe?

Did I not give them credit? :dwillhuh:

My only issues are that it wasn't the predominant sentiment at the time or since. Kobe pretty much got a pass for that shyt. You will always have nikkas pulling shyt out of there ass to shyt on people they don't like. Beyond that if it was anyone other than Kobe most of the same nikkas defending him would be using it as proof that a nikka wasn't on Kobe's level the greatness of the Celtics D wouldn't even be an issue. I am not a fan of selective thorough and thoughtful analysis that only comes out when certain people/teams lose.

I don't know; Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill, and this guy
harold_miner_1994_01_01.jpg
were REAL victims of the NBA trying to relate them to Jordan. At least Kobe was able to become a legend in his own right.

Hell, being crowned Baby Jordan literally ruined Harold Miner's life.

Beat me to it.

I said this in another thread, I think Kobe gets hate for the MJ comparision because he's the only one that didn't fail. People expected to see another player hyped up and fail. When Bean didn't fail, the MJ fans felt threatened. It turned from waiting for him to fail to hoping that he fails to hating him for not failing.

I always wondered what would it be like if Rider or Minor would have actually lived up to the hype. Would they be hated like Kobe?

I've never seen two basketball players get as much hate as Lebron and Kobe for not being better than Jordan.

I hope when it's all said and done that Lebron fukks around and wins 8 titles to shut these hoe ass nikkas up.

Funny story, KAREEM has more points than Jordan. MOst people still say Jordan > Kareem.

thats cause Kareem was a big man....Kareem has any many titles, more MVPs, and more points than MJ

Jordan is only considered the GOAT because he came up in the 90s when mass media and globalization started and because his style of play was never seen before. It was more exciting and more marketable. If we are going strictly by numbers and accomplishments, Kareem has much right to be called the GREATEST PLAYER EVER as Jordan.

If Kobe passes MJ in scoring it'll be a big deal. People don't focus on per game stats when we are talking about overall career. No one knows who has the highest homeruns per game in baseball history, people only know who has the most homeruns. No one knows who has the highest rushing yards per game in NFL history, but everyone knows who has the most rushing yards.

Over an entire career, raw totals MATTER. Kobe passing MJ in total points would be huge. He would be the highest scoring non-big man in NBA history. That means something since the NBA is a game of bigmen and historically big men have been able to extend their careers longer than guards.
